Marquis De Saint Pey

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Clos du Marquis Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Nose of hibiscus and menthol. Tannins present and well balanced. A bit forward on the palate - meaning it is powerful mid palate. - finish is long but slightly off balance on the palate @Rajat Parr wouldn’t be happy - striving for balanced wine - but this one is a bit off the mark … — 19 days ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

La Petite Marquise du Clos du Marquis Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Château Léoville Las Cases ‘La Petite Marquise’ Saint-Julien 2018: Medium-full bodied. Medium-high acidity. Noticeable tannins that mellowed out over time. Deep purple in color. Tasting notes of blackberry, plum, strawberry, cedar & oak. Smooth warm finish. All in all, a rich & delicious Saint-Julien wine however very worthy of additional years of cellaring. Be well wine friends! Cheers 🇫🇷🍷 — 3 years ago

Château Calon-Ségur

Le Marquis Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of blueberries, currants, plums, tobacco leaf, cedar, licorice, light vanilla and black pepper.

Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, blueberries, plums, cooked cherries, spices, light cedar, licorice, chocolates, dark coffee, herbs and black peppers.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Merlot blend from Saint Estephe. Rich, smooth and elegant.

This second wine from the Third Growth Chateau is showing nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.

This 10 year old is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

A great sipping wine. Plush and fruit forward.

A blend of 57% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 17 months in (50% new) French Oak barrels.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$60.

Textbook Vineyards

The Pey Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Today I have opened the 2018 The Pey Family Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon. From Saint Helena, CA Napa Valley. This is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot. A nice surprise at this price point, well worth it.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, vegetal notes, black currant, mint, spice, violets and earth.

On the palate I find black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, black currant, green bell pepper, spice, mocha, pencil shavings and earth.

This wine is full bodied with a fresh vibrant mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium+ sandpaper tannins that leaves you with a long vegetal black fruit earthy finish. A beautiful wine from the Pey Family. Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe and healthy as we all start looking forward to the holidays ahead. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Even more fantastic than the previous bottle of 2010 I enjoyed a year ago. Decanted and enjoyed over 7 hours. This was good from first pour but became great and then magnificent over the next 3.5 and 7 hours. It was still full of verve on the last sip! Early only it was more dark fruit but over time the wines softened and became a bit sweeter and rounder. Tremendous length and complexity. — 3 months ago

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Le Petit Ducru Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Ducru's third wine. Well I have had worse Saint Julien... I bought 5 bottles in a special discount (foire aux vins) in a local French hypermarket (Auchan) for a bargain of a price (22 Euro a bottle when it's sold 30+ Eur in France currently). Nice, true to type saint Julien nose with black currant, meat juice, tar, coffee beans. Good acid drive, black currant all along, good width, some width, some very vivid tannins that leave a very true to type drying, coffee grind layer before a very long finish with black currant and a tiny meat juice note in the rear. Well, it's clearly not the aristocratic first wine (that I don't know, by the way, happy to accept any invitation to try 😅), not the second wine or the second label (I am an absolute fan of Clos du Marquis) but it's a great saint Julien on its own with good width and length. Thumbs up! — 2 years ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Cabernet sauvignon 2006

This is a powerful wine, here is a lot of complexity in the bottle. A great structure and a robust mouth filling, the tannins a little softer then the last bottle way back but still firm. Great bottle of wine and some decades ahead, but not this one🤣😋 — 4 years ago
