Galicia masterclass 🇪🇸. Native grape varieties. 10-12 in stainless, aged on lees. $43 — a month ago
Wowza, this really over-delivered for $20: inky no sign of age on rim, effusive dark fruit, brooding ripe black & blue berried mingled with spices, cocoa, dried herbs, minerals, hoisin - blind I would have guessed Mourvèdre from Southern France. Great extract & density of flavors on nose & mid palate, cut a broad swath, smooth rich, finely grained tannins balanced seamlessly. Bit less acidity than Mencia from Bierzo, but enough for the smoked ribs devoured alongside this gem. — 3 months ago
First time trying this type of varietal. Savory fleshy bouquet. Mushroom , forest floor, earthy loam, prune and raisin. Great backbone of acid, cherry and more prune on the palate. Lots of structure to keep aging. Very unique wine. 13% — 8 months ago
Has a pungent fragrance that is a bit musty.
Drinks fairly smoothly with flavors of dark fruit, earth and spice.
Spice lingers on the palate in the finish. — a month ago
Mencia that tastes like Chinon. Delicious. — 6 months ago
A straightforward but good Tempranillo - earthy, spice, smoke, good fruit extraction, and the oak is noticeable, but enough acidity to balance it out. — 8 months ago
