Orange peel marmalade, apricot, spices?, tropical fruits (notably pineapple). Honey with subtle (Brazilian nut) nutty quality. Very faint hint of cheese. Rich, fairly complex, and lasting. Just lovely. — 3 months ago
Medium deep copper tinged . Basically still , with a slight spritz notable on the palate. Nicely fruited still quite rich and decadent . Candied peel with slight caramel note , brioche . On the palate still fills out very well with good fresh acidity cutting the richness of the yellow fruits. Good length and balance for a wine of this age. This needs drinking won’t improve , but is still surprisingly enjoyable. — 5 months ago
A truly memorable experience. Intense amber (almost burnt sienna) color. Lively aromas and flavors of honey, caramel, dried pineapple and apricot. Hint of orange peel on the finish. Silky and smooth texture (honey-like). Great balance of sweetness and acidity. Time was very good to this beautiful Sauternes. — 3 years ago
Orange tinged gold colour . Very fruit driven still , lots of yellow fruits , crystallised orange peel , clementines , vanilla , spiced apricots . On the palate quite rich and decadent , lots of ripe yellow fruits , apricot , peach and then mandarin and caramelised orange . Touches of honey , vanilla , creme brûlée. Slightly bitter caramel tinged finish , with good vibrant acidity, balanced alcohol , long and elegant finish . Tastes so young still , maybe having been recorked in 2005 has something to do with that . Drinking well now but will still be perfect in another 20-30 years — a month ago
2024/1. I always love this wine and this bottle of the 2020 was a bit more in keeping with my impression of the house style than the last - savory, tangy red fruit, orange peel and earth, though still particularly rich and layered in this iteration — 5 months ago
Smelling this i'm reminded of the sweet wines in Piemont. Elderflower is the dominant note on the nose and I expected this to be quite light...it isn't! Sweet and sticky with lots of citrus peel and later a bit of raisin and spice. Was impressive and original. Paired with pear frangipan — 3 months ago
Happy Valentine’s Day! Continuing our tradition of pulling one of these each year - 11 down, only 1 more to go after this! Reminder that we need to choose a new case of something soon.
This is excellent as always but I’m not sure hits quite the same high note as last year’s bottle. Fine mousse, nose a bit more restrained. Palate is explosive and so deep with wonderful candied caramelized lemon peel. Wonderful pairing with carbonara! — 4 months ago
Explosive in its intensity with rich honeyed apricots, candied fruit, fresh orange peel, ripe mango, aromas of almond nougat, a whiff of red pepper. Yet this is so light, fresh & vivid.
Rich on the palate with a dense mouthfeel, intense honeyed sweetness balanced by fresh citrus acidity. There’s a hint of tannins, a spicy mid palate, a kind of ricotta creaminess, a reminiscence of golden Yunnan tea. And such a looong finish with the rocky, salty, volcanic minerality coming to the forefront at the very last moment.
This has character, a certain magic that makes you fall in love. And it doesn’t let go.
This is brilliant & delicious! — 3 years ago

Lovely stuff. Orange peel, apricot, corn and lemon oil. Dry finish with limestone. Unusual and delicious. — a month ago
