Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1997

Earthy and not giving away much initially, was worried after 20 mins. By 30 it blossomed, full on cassis and vanilla tannins, undergrowth. Dark red fruit, Rutherford dust. Notwithstanding a Bordeaux vibe there was no mistaking this for anything but a high-end Napa cab. Awesome one at that. I wouldn’t wait much longer… — 13 hours ago

Freestone Pastorale Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020

Ruby red color with aromas of ripe fruits and baking spice, sourced from several vineyards, the wine was aged for 15 months in 55% new and 45% 2-3 year French Oak. On the palate flavors of strawberry and ripe plum with vanilla, baking spice, lively acidity and fine tannins. Long finish, nice mouthfeel, ending with warming cedar spice character. — a month ago

Came off a little disjointed. Give it some as I see a bright future. The cab franc is noticeable in a good way with a dried herb note. — 14 days ago

Good blend. A little sweet initially but balanced out after it breathed a little. Overall nice wine but enjoyed even more at the Joseph Phelps winery. Great ambience and even better friends. — a month ago

Bottle in and bottle out, always delivers regardless of vintage with this kind of age and more. Hour and a half decant.

Still round, softened medium plus tannins. Ripe, ruby; blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, plum, black raspberries, some fig & date, dry, crushed, ripe crushed rocks, dry top soil, dark, bit driven spice, sandalwood to barrel shavings, fresh & used tobacco w/ ash, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon stick, vanilla, some black licorice/cola, withering, candied; dark, red, purple flowers, round rainfall acidity, balance for days, nicely tensioned and elegance & polish that lasts two-minutes.

Deep ruby coloration. On the nose, dark cherry, chocolate, coffee. On the palate, lots of berries, chocolate, oak, vanilla, warm spices, strong tannins. Full body. Medium finish. — 9 days ago

Probably one of my favorite Cabernets. Berry flavors but not sweet. Beautifully balanced, medium tannins. — a month ago

Day and intense. Dried herbs, blood and deep fruit. Gorgeously savory and delicious and fresh. Spectacular. Definition and structure. Lots of class — 2 months ago
