Pomerol, Libournais

Château Le Bon Pasteur

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Dark, glass-clinging reddish purple with near opaque core. Lush, inviting nose of baked plum and dark berry cobbler. Equally lush, full palate echoes the nose adding juicy red plum, blackberry, and fruit ash. Velvety medium tannins entry to finish. Medium acidity. Lengthy, dark finish. Can't really go wrong with Pomerol, and this wine is further evidence of that. A good solid vintage from the house that put Michel Rolland on the map. Drink now through 2029. — 6 days ago

Stony and flowery nose. It feels kind of a gravel soil. Pure and precise. Very fine and femminine. — 19 days ago

Pétrus

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

My first Petrus was a very special thing. So intense and seductive, really something out of the ordinary. It kept begging my nose going back to the glass and harmoniously gave back so much pleasure. Could feel its presence very clear after a few minutes. Incredible. 98-100. Unique and delicious. — 6 days ago

Château La Conseillante

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Dark deep rich color. Lots of perfume and luxury to this wine. It’s very approachable twelve years in. The alcohol is in tune. The fruit is mature and dark. Nice length. It went down very quickly and easily. Stellar wine! — 11 days ago

Comtes de Neipperg St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Blend of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Medium ruby/garnet color with a slight brick colored rim. Aromas and flavors of dried cherries, currants, boysenberries and blueberries with notes of orange zest, graphite and violets. Pleasant long finish. Soft tannins and creamy/velvety texture. Extremely well balanced. Silky tannins. Aging gracefully. — 4 days ago

Château Le Gay

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Rather bold with strong aroma, this is definitely not a light blend. This would go really well with Lamb Shank or Blue Cheese. This seems to have a tinge of higher tannin with an aftertaste taste of perhaps blackberry. But less of the sweetness — 2 days ago

Drinking so well. A great wine and a first for me. It’s got so much freshness and energy is the headline. Nose is cassis, vanilla, tobacco, spice and some hints of black fruits. Also a background of awesome minerality. A plump nose which belies what comes on the palate. It’s rich but just teeming with energy and so much black and red fruit that is super crunchy and luscious. Gorgeous clarity to the minerality and a freshness I haven’t tasted in Bordeaux maybe ever. I really like the vibe of this wine. The finish keeps pumping. Very very impressive. It’s also so sappy on the finish and just outrageously complex. — 7 days ago

@Lyle Fass Compared to Napa Cabs-no. For BDX, depends on the producer.
