Royale Réserve Brut Champagne Blend

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The Royale Réserve Brut pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of apple, lemon, raspberry, brioche, some toasted marshmallow, marzipan and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and the texture is creamy. Disgorged January 2024. — 2 months ago

Clos Maia

Le Petit Clos... Pays d'Hérault Grenache Blend 2020

Nose is that blackberry filling at the bottom of the yogurt cup.

Tart cherry, flinty fruits, lots of mineralogy here, citrus and red fruit battle royale..
A unique blend from a hot region. Literally and figuratively.

Lionne Royale

Speciale Reserve Brut Champagne Blend

Wal-Mart’s house champagne brand…I figured for $25, why not?

Nose: buttered white crusty toast, nuts, honey, beeswax, yellow apple, very ripe tropical fruit, some kind of mushroom or something fermenting? Shellfish! Mixed feelings here … complex for sure, but a little weird…

Taste: good! Definitely solid French bubbly -texture OK, fruitier than I expected - tangerine, green apple, nice bracing acidity, bitter nuts. A little (sour) cream. 91-92! Definitely a solid alternative to the good $18-22 cremants if you’d rather spend $25 and get real champagne. From Wal-Mart! EDIT: wife agrees with score! Her instinct was 92.
