Between 91-92. Big, dense, peppery, and fun for a not a usually Zin guy. Has boysenberry, blueberry, soy, and funk. Pretty good balance if you don’t consider the fruit. 😉 — 2 days ago

PnP. Probably needed a decant. Higher OH than I expected with dark fruit. Medium plus depth and somewhat rustic. — a month ago

Quilceda Creek

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Medium garnet , ruby , with some lightening on the rim . Dark, slightly meaty nose , a bit alcoholic perhaps , grafite , iron filing earthy overtones slightly high toned . On the palate this has quite bright cassis , roasted red pepper , meaty , slight earthy , iron filing hint . Quite rich and rounded with some balanced acidity and slightly gritty tannin , a little heavy but not as much as I had feared from 15.2% alcohol . Quiet a lot of ripe dark fruits on the palate , blackberry , cassis , dark cherry. Quite a mouthful, though not subtle and not long on the palate either . Drink now and over the next 5 or so years , I don’t see this improving much. — 12 days ago

Ouch... Given the price...

Chateau Ste. Michelle

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Costco. Prior to aerating properly this was a little drying and oaky, and this wasn’t so good. However, following a bit of time to breathe and aerate, this was very enjoyable. Fruits and redcurrant and cherries came out, with a bit of an oaky dryness on the finish but not too significant. — 2 days ago

Long Shadows Vintners

Pedestal Columbia Valley Merlot 2016

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Dark inky in color with a reddish rim.

Very pretty nose with black fruits, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, Indian spices, cola and light black tea.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, chocolates, toast, light vanilla, dark coffee, Indian spices, light cola licorice and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious 9 year old Merlot from Columbia Valley. Rich and extracted. Spicy and entertaining.

Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 3 hours of airtime.

Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Smooth and elegant. Fruit forward and tangy. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.

Good by itself as a sipping wine.

A blend of 75% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Aged for 22 months in (85% new) French Oak barrels.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$75.

Elivette Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

Classic. Treasure found at the local wine shop for a deal. Beautiful Napa cab nose full of blue/darkfruit. You notice the blend on the palate - cab franc, petit verdot, merlot and a bit of malbec. Just really well put together. Going to venture out and get more tomorrow. — 6 days ago

@Paul K Yes, tasted some of the new project from there but didn’t like it enough to put in my notes. I’d hold off taking the plunge for another year or two. Pick up a handful of bottles in the market/online, reevaluate the next two vintages and then take the plunge or route the $$$ elsewhere depending on the results.
