Red Mountain, Columbia Valley

O'Shaughnessy

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Heavy sed. It’s lost a bit of the cab punch but it is just jammy smooth. — 3 days ago

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

Very classic BDX style. The Owner and the winemaker of La Conseillante were convinced drinking Bordeaux left bank — 21 days ago

Mayacamas Range Napa Estate Zinfandel 2017

Opens up with blackberries, currants, dates and figs. Then a smoky, earthiness overlays the tannins and a mildly acidic finish. — 5 days ago

Outpost

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Ok this is just fantastic. I don’t think people understood how great this was given when we got to it but it was probably wine of the night. — 16 days ago

Quilceda Creek

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Deep garnet in color with a nice bouquet of mint and an old closet! Eucalyptus and herbaceous notes support dry blackberry brambles amid nicely evolved tannic structure. This wine remains at its peak of expression. — 22 days ago

Bodega Catena Zapata

High Mountain Vines Mendoza Malbec 2019

Really good Malbec, still some tannic strength, but complex and full bodied, with some dried dark cherries and cocoa or tobacco. Lingers really well — 20 days ago

Pride Mountain Vineyards

Sonoma County Cabernet Franc 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days. Better on Day 2 and Day 3. The 2021 pours a deep ruby with near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of red brambles, green bell pepper, tobacco, purple flowers, dry gravely earth, soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and satisfying. I don’t drink Pride very often but there is a lot to like. Super consistent. Drink now with some patience but better after 2026 and through 2041 — 13 days ago
