Cave Sébastien Blachon

Margariat Saint-Joseph Syrah 2021

Lyle Fass
9.7

Needed 1 hour last night then it got reductive. But today oh man! Nose is glorious red fruits, granite, herbs and flowers. Clay, iron ore. Some blackberry as well. palate is raw and feral with blood, guts and meat. Concentrated and linear. Unreal texture and finish but needs a decade. — 13 days ago

Was expecting more. Although once it aired out a bit, started to perform. I expect tomorrow’s glass to be more my speed — 2 months ago

Château Tour Saint-Christophe

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2021 pours a deep purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe dark fruits: blackberries, dark cherry, plums, purple flowers, cocoa, organic earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A crowd pleaser to drink now but with enough substance to enjoy through 2036. — 4 months ago

Les Elotins Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2019

2019 vintage. The durty/lean side of Côte-Rôtie. Medium-bodied. Less fruit, more earth/dust. Tasted it 5 hours later after just sticking the cork back in at 3:15pm. Overt tannins had slightly backed off but extra/evolved fruit components hadn't rushed in to fill in the vacuum. Definite food wine. 10.8.25. — 21 days ago

Heritage Chablis Chardonnay 2022

Holy shit. Sheeeit.

Nose: utterly explosive. Lemon peel. Lemon oil. Stony. Blasty white flowers.

Palate: sweet lemon. Mineral. Acidic blast. Delicious.

$30ish.

Blind this is Grand cru. Is has the density. The complexity. Better than most grand crus.

What a winemaker !

Delicate nose of lemons and limes. Nice balanced mouthfeel with Granny Smiths and pears. Moderate weight and finish, with moderate acidity make this a great value buy.
