The 2015 Viña Ardanza is only the third vintage of this wine that I’ve tasted, yet it has quickly become perhaps my favourite Rioja - for quality, value, style, and sheer pleasure. This is a match for the brilliant 2010, with an outrageously pure and beautiful nose of balsamic paste, bitter orange, black cherry, fig and vanilla. The palate is supple but firm, quite dark in character, with a gorgeous medley of black and red fruits, perhaps slightly fuller bodied than the 2010, and carrying through to a long, bitter orange, tar and tobacco-laced finish.
This is just such superb stuff, and to say it sells for around £20-30 a bottle, it’s a cellar must. — a year ago
The sheer beauty of some wines can leave you almost speachless and the 2018 Colgin IX Estate is such a wine. A gorgeous floral perfume of rose pedals and violets is followed by laser-like focused aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, red and black plum, iodine, graphite, cedar wood, black pepper and a hint of earth. The mouthfeel is off the charts, mingling depth, power and complexity with flawless elegance. The long, lingering finish feels like the aftermath to a heroic movie climax. Spectacular! Drink now until 2060. — 2 years ago
Very good! We both love it! — 2 months ago
in line with the other reviews. An exceptional wine maker, doing everything from planting to pruning to winemaking. Very small production. Opened the bottle about an hour before consuming every last drop. Quite delicious. An exceptional example of Oregon Pinot Noir. — a year ago

1982 vintage. Above average fill. Cork 98% saturated. Decanted and throwing a mix of chunky and sandy sed. Tasted after 15 minutes. Dark-fruited nose. Still medium body. Any overt fruit is gonzo and this specimen ended up as more muscular than remembered with notable balance. Tannic skeleton definitely in place. Least favorite 1st growth overall but this was a great showing. In a sweet spot currently and likely to hold here without drop off for another 4-5 years. 6.1.24. — 7 months ago
Strong we’ll priced wine - drop color and legs, we’ll balanced. Subtle. — 2 years ago

Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of blackberry, tar, forest floor and black licorice. Flavors of dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, baking spices and black cherry. Long velvety finish, balanced acidity and smooth tannins. Fruit forward and bombastic, but also nicely textured and somewhat savory. Excellent value. — 2 months ago
