From 3L bottle
1 hour decant. A majestic dark garnet color with some bricking. On the nose: perfumed fragrant notes of dark plum, currants, creme brulee, herbaceous, eucalyptus, wet forest floor. Taste: silky, creamy, wonderful coat your palate wine with red plum/cherry, that Cos spice, mineral, graphite, worn leather, and a smokey chocolate coffee medium plus finish. YUM! — 4 months ago
Color - dark purple garnet. A bold expressive funky perfume fruit nose so classic of Cayuse with mineral-meat, smokey and mint notes lingering with a vanilla toast scent. Juicy and elegant; rich with dark plum-cherry flavors intertwined with a smokey soil bacon bitters taste—the mineral-iron characteristics follow with a tobacco long finish. Looking forward to seeing how the flavors change with different foods and as the wine opens up. Bionic Frog is favorite and definitely a wine to try and store in your cellar. Really tasty. Perhaps the first Cali Pinot noir that I’ve enjoyed, also probably because it drinks more like a zin. Dark opaque red. Slightly smokey. Full bodied. Bought it on sale for $35. Would love to have again. Had with apps on New Year’s Eve, but would be great with food and could even hold up to a heartier meal (steak, etc). — 4 months ago
Wonderful wine. Was afraid I might have waited too long but just a wonderful taste. — 10 months ago
I have been a huge fan of this domaine since they produced their first bottles in 1982. The wines are pure expressions of Pinot, delineated, mineral and salty. When young they can be very smokey/toasty but that bleeds out through aging. Unfortunately they are irresistible when young but the reward is even better with 7 to 10 years of bottle age. Tough to wait for that long. — 4 years ago
Smokey, with a hint of cherries, strawberry jam, and vanilla. A little less “earthy” and a little softer than other vintages I have had by this producer. — 4 months ago
Yummy. Dark, Smokey but balanced with plum, currant and cherry notes. — 2 years ago
Dark crimson and garnet color. Very dark cherry fruit, bacon spices and a smokey vanilla hit the nose then lingers with a spearmint menthol scent and chocolate that is pleasant and inviting. Velvety feel fills the mouth with a cherry liqueur hitting the pallet; as the wine coats the tongue a raisin-prune and cedar taste comes out with hints of vanilla and coffee floating in and out. Medium to long finish and tannins pretty much resolved. 2017 Wine Spectator’s wine of the year! — 5 years ago
