Pagani Ranch Sonoma Valley Zinfandel Blend 2016

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2016 Pagani Ranch pours a deep ruby with near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of red and black brambles, toasted coconut, dill, wood, baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and tart. This is in a lovely spot yet, it still exhibiting quite a bit of freshness so I expect this will be quite long-lived. Drink now through 2031+. — a month ago

Williams Selyem

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2021

A blend from several vineyards, including Middle Reach, Green Valley, Santa Rosa Plain, and the Laguna Ridge area. Bright Ruby color, purple edges, with aromas of ripe fruits, floral and complex spice. On the palate concentrated flavors of raspberry, cherry and currants with pepper, tea, herbs, vanilla and oak, aged on French oak, soft tannins on well balanced structure. Full body, rich long finish, ending with spice, ripe fruit and oaky tones. Very Nice! — a month ago

Sonoma County Zinfandel 2022

Mostly Zinfandel with less than 20% of other red varieties blended in. Dark ruby color. Intense aromatics of black currant/berry, black raspberry and plums. Same ripe fruits on the palate with additional flavors of black olive, basil, black pepper and baking spices. Long and lingering finish. Lively tannins and zesty acidity. Bold and powerful but not over the top. Good choice, Keith S! — a month ago

I have only had the Napa valley version before. The Napa seems more dense and concentrated but my only comparison was a 2007 that is beautiful. — 6 days ago

First time trying this producer.
Muted nose, but displayed good taught acidity and grip on the mid-palate, with classic cola notes. Nice depth and freshness.

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Oh Failla how I’ve missed you ❤️. I remember my tasting visit on the verandah and Ehren walking in through the front. This was back in 2013 when I was working as an intern for Abe Schoener at The Scholium Project. Magical times, magical wine found in my small Australian hometown. 2021 at $110 Australian and worth every dollar ❤️ — 3 days ago

A. Rafanelli

Unfiltered Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2006

I pulled this from the cellar on Father’s Day; toasting the year I became a dad. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2006 pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core and a magenta rim; medium+ viscosity with faint staining of the tears and lots of fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of tart dark fruits: brambles, montmornecy cherries, tobacco, dry earth, and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and zippy with tongue smacking acid. The 2006 Rafanelli Zinfandel is in a seriously great spot right now and well stored examples should hold in this position easily through the rest of this decade. Great with pizza. Drink now through 2031+. — 10 days ago

Delicious - classic Pommardian nose of ripe cherries, sassafras, and warm warm spices. Med bodied, elegant, generous mid palate, everything in place and balanced w/impressive length on finish. — 14 days ago
