Upon opening, this bottle smelled amazing. Ripe wild blueberry and pie like aromas.

First sip and the fruit is present, not quite as jammy as the smell and you get a lot more structure and depth. Some forest bramble and chewiness.

Overall - a steal from auction. Love that people under value the 2011’s — a month ago

First time with Rivers Marie. And very satisfied. Classic CA style with vanilla and ripe fruit, but not over the top. Easy drinking. Still slight preference for Mayacamas, Mt Eden, or Hirsch. Or Staglin :-) — a year ago

M & I’s contribution for OTBN was the 2009 Ridge Monte Bello. I love everything Ridge, and this was my first time trying the Monte Bello. A true classic. This wine was more earth and rustic than the Staglin. Winemaker notes best describe this wine as deep ruby/purple; blackberry, red current, ripe cassis, cedar, crushed rock minerality, toasted oak; Full-body, rich tannin structure, dark berry fruit, firm acid, wet-stone, juniper, forest floor, cola, and lingering exotic oak spice finish. — 2 years ago
