Another Wine Club meeting come and gone. This time we had some exceptional selections that were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Speaking of enjoyment, there are few things more enjoyable than sharing good wine with good friends. This is one reason why Wine Club is a tradition that we will strive to preserve for many years to come. — 9 years ago

The last couple vintages of the 19 Block are Malbec dominated at around 60%. This is a change from prior bottlings of the cuvée that are mostly Cab-based.
Glows red. If there's such thing as craft or small batch or artisanal licorice, this would be what they'd strive for with their red. Also, this smells like the first 5 seconds when you walk into Central Market (HEB's answer to Whole Foods). Seriously, I've been to every one of their stores and it's also in this wine. Some sort of floral/ginger/oak/cedar/baking spice/baking bread thing that's certainly salivating. Also, this might be the first wine that has invoked the thought that it might be better with further reduction or extraction. The style has a signature that is both unique and familiar. — 9 years ago
21 years ago today I won the lottery. Sofia chose me. Over the years I’ve gathered all the 2002 bubbles I could find and this gem is our treat on our 21st anniversary. Cheers boys and girls… strive to share your life with a beautiful partner inside and out and laugh a lot! — 3 years ago
This is what most other Cardonnays, especially those from California, should strive to be. Extremely smooth. Acidity isn't aggressive. It's well-balanced with a touch of oak that complements it very well. — 8 years ago

Outstanding effort. There are many reasons why this wine is spectacular, but aside from the Atlas Peak fruit, I love that they have held these back and aged them before release. The nose is powerful full of cigarbox and espresso, and baking spices. The pallet defines balance, exhibiting notes of red plum and blueberries, cinnamon, mocha, vanilla bean, and a gorgeous lingering finish. This is a goal that Napa Cabs should strive for, not too over extracted, the right tannins, and use of Oak not to hide everything else great about the
Wine.
Cheers!

Linear yet elegant…dense, darker red fruit carries balance thru the attack into a medium+ weighted finish (think artisan cola) - highlighting fine grain tannins. Fall Herbs lend subtle accent to polished build. Oak is not intrusive The 2016 Meritage is a blend of 45% Merlot, 28% Petit Verdot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 9% Malbec, and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon. The majority of the fruit came from Rougemont vineyard in Keswick, VA, with the remainder coming from Adventure Farm, Wild Meadow, Carter's Mountain, and Honah Lee. The grapes are fermented with natural yeast in stainless steel tanks and then barrel aged in 54% new French oak individually and blended for a total of 21 months. We believe that the Bordeaux blends produce some of Virginia's best and most expressive wines. The 2016 Meritage blend is a reflection of what we strive for in both the grape growing and winemaking. — 5 years ago

This is what we strive to be...rich, but balanced. Stuff to show, not showy.
This is lively kickin' pretty perfumed mix of vanilla spice and citrus, with a saturated butterscotch glow. Yellow sour mirabelle plums and peaches. Swervy end note of violet and artificial grape. — 3 years ago
