This was so good!! With chicken Parm (and backgammon). Very balanced. Would buy a case. — 4 years ago
Let sit overnight with cork in it after opening and it was fantastic. Drank a different bottle immediately after opening, not nearly as good. — 7 years ago
As the 2002 Lucien le Moine Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru develops in the glass it starts off with more classic notes of forest brambles, freshly turned tilth, dried rose petals and red fruit. The impression evolves, however, to darker black cherries and even a whiff of dark chocolate powder. On the palate, tart, high-toned red forest berries, dried cranberry and spice, along with an iron-tinged, metallic finish. My only criticism of this wine is that it falls short on the finish, that metallic note is predominant too, leaving me to wonder if this bottle has perhaps been subject to temperature fluctuations during storage. — 10 years ago
Cherryhouse Vineyard Zin by Tilth. Lodi. Bit of a rusty red. Smells like baked cherry cobbler and creosote on a railroad tie. And that’s a great combo for CA old vine Zins. Flavors are sharp and acidic with a jammy core. Cherry brandy and Coca Cola. Bit of coffee and chocolate on the finish. It’s balanced yet big. A hint savory, but fruit driven. This is good Lodi Zin. This is really good hot climate CA classic Zinfandel. — 2 months ago
Dark ruby with a nice nose of black cherry & plum. Light bodied, smooth with even tannins and ending with some acidity. Will pair well with poultry, some fishes, whiter meats. A nice find. (After airing the acidity really evened out to very little!) — 5 years ago
Sauvage is the world that comes to mind when describing this signular and biodynamically farmed, wild ferment Vinhão. Aromas of smoky plum and earth are rendered more complex by a sort of feral, animal quality that persists on the palate as well. A bold streak of acidity creates a sense of tension to sour cherry notes firmly anchored in damp tilth, preserved game, steeped green tea, and pink peppercorn. This won't be to everyone's taste, but for the adventurous, I say, go for it. 11.0% ABV | Sample — 9 years ago
