Allspice, molasses, browning, nutmeg, salty air, tide pool. Very pretty acids and tannic bite. Some campfire smoke — 8 months ago

Broadbent

Colheita Madeira Tinta Negra Mole 1999

Another bottle I forgot to get a picture of in situ. Made from Tinta Negra in canteiro. A caramel glaze about to burned brown color, veering into golden brown at the rim. Utterly mouthwatering (and I should say nose quivering) aromas of caramel, brown sugar, sugarcane, molasses, coffee, and dark chocolate, plus a hint of earth and smoke. It is sweet, oh yes, it is, but the acid is bracing. The palate confirms the nose with the addition of caramelized grapefruit, figs, dates and cocoa. Geez Louise, it’s good. Almost cola on the finish. — 10 months ago

A rich gold in colour. Not much experience with Madeira. Like a hypothetical cross between a Sherry (oxidative) and Port (rich). Walnutty notes very savoury with dried fruit notes. — 2 years ago
