Tranche Cellars

Domaine Michel Lafarge

Vendanges Sélectionnées Meursault Chardonnay 2018

2024/8/13-14. This is in a rich style but without much oak influence; ripe lemon, citrus blossom, a bit of butter and stone. It reminds me of Merlin’s wines (though that impression might be heightened because I’m drinking through a tranche of the latter in parallel) — 3 months ago

Best wine I’ve had in a while, in a couple years it’ll be an 11 but drinking fantastic now. — 2 years ago

This has basically become my favorite Bourgogne Rouge. I can’t afford to buy the Burgundy that I really want to and love to drink, so I gotta get my fix in other ways and this wine never disappoints. It’s also aging quite well. I bought a tranche of the 15’s a number of years ago and they’re just gorgeous. Incredible pure expression of forest berries that have an almost alpine quality with lovely florals and aromatic herbs all enlivened by nervy acidity and a gorgeous silky texture. I love pretty much all the wines from Hudelot-Noellat. — 3 years ago

So true about the affordability for most of us. Quality regional and village is the only access for ordinary folk. Even some Bourgogne is now expensive! Rousseau etc Good work Alder

I am pretty sure I paid around $30-$35 a bottle in its first tranche release. Seems Millesima USA is selling it today for $149 a bottle through the app. The reason to collect and age. It is drinking well beyond that price point twenty years from inception or how I always look at wine is eighteen years in bottle. For me, that’s how I decide when to open. How many years in the bottle is its real age.

It is dark cherry, cherry, blackberry, black raspberries, strawberries, raspberries with bright florals. Amazing smoothness, bright violets, excellent acidity and a well, evenly polished finish that pairs with fatty steaks for days. Stupidly perfect from a warm/ripe Bordeaux vintage.

Happy holidays. 🎅🧑‍🎄 ☃️ 🎄 🎁 ❄️

Pape Estate Grown Columbia Valley Red Blend 2015

2018 $35 thru oregon club
Smell of Blueberry/boysenberry and slight pepper.

Dry finish. Velvet texture. Some tannins but not overbearing.

Had with ribeye & potatoes, excellent with fat.

Riper tranche perhaps? But even tastier this time around. Surprising more ripe and developed than most Idylle still wines. Cremant de Savoie … get u some — 3 years ago
