Veuve A. Devaux

Grande Réserve Brut Champagne Blend

From Aube in southern Champagne, pale lemon color, light creamy mousse, tiny bubbles, with aromas of stone and citrus fruits, underlying toasty notes, dry with 8g of residual sugar. On the palate flavors of apple and peach with lime citrus zest, honeysuckle and chalky nuttiness. Lively acidity with good balance, long finish ending with fruit, biscuit and slight chalky notes. — 12 days ago

Rich pink color.
Has nice flavors of strawberry and grapefruit, however is not sweet. Is more of a medium dry that finishes smoothly.

A little pre-thanksgiving bubbles. Hope you all have a great day of football & turkey dinner with family/friends! 🏈 🦃 🥧 🍽️ 🍁

It has been a yr and half of more since I’ve had the Launois Veuve Clemence. Still enjoy this quite a bit but I sense the 8g’s dosage more now versus the 2-6g’s dosage that I have gravitated.

It shows orange citrus blend, lime pulp, lemon zest to chiffon, grapefruit with pith, Bosc pear, red apple, pineapple, tropical melons, kiwi, white spice, gritty chalk, crispy volcanics, dry river stone, saline, sea fossils, limestone marl, notes of frothed whole milk, graham cracker crust, yellow & white flowers, jasmine mixed in greens, lively, crisp acidity, very well balanced, complex, good tension/structure and elegant finish that lasts minutes and long sets on spice and minerals.

100% Blanc de Blanc, Grand Cru vineyards in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and spent almost five years on lees, founded in 1872 and has passed through 8 generations.

If you go to Champagne, try & get an appointment. They have a huge historical champagne museum that is amazing.

Excellent value @ $44.99.

#Remembrance #Love 6/25.

Sofia loved Penguins. We played w/ them in Dubai and she also skied indoor while I had a spot of Champagne and watched from a very big window. Only in Dubai. They have to build things of that nature…cus w/o them…just a bunch of sand.

Brut Rosé Vertus Champagne Blend

A pretty pink salmon color with moderately energetic bubbles and creaminess. The bouquet is so pretty and precise with yuzu and vivacious strawberries. There’s so much juicy fruit going on here and it never stops. Raspberry tarts and warm cherry pie with a dose of dried herbs. A nice bit of earth and sage for good measure.

A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from three consecutive vintages along with 30% reserve wines. It’s a splendid rosé from Vertus with racy acidity and nice structure throughout. The palate is very expressive with lively red berries and savory notes. A very well made champagne that’s easy drinking and just a pure pleasure.

Not as bad as I remember it. It’s been a while though.

Slightly, bruised pear & red & green apple, lime zest, lemon pulp, some ginger white spice w/ a touch of heat, limestone mixed in volcanic minerals, crisp chalkiness, sea spray, yeasty bread dough, yellow & white spring flowers, lively acidity and a balanced & nicely polished elegant finish that last 45 seconds and lands on volcanics.

La Grande Dame Brut Champagne Blend 1990

Quite young looking lemon , just a hint of gold . very fine bubbles , that dissipate quiet quickly in a white wine glass . Lots of roasted nuts , toasted bread , caramel , and a oyster shell , caramelised lemon peel , saffron , lemongrass and a hint of curry . On the palate this has more of the caramel notes , with saffron , some lemon, mineral a quite tight , slightly astringent acidity and mineral finish. Not overly intense but quite good length , with mineral , oyster shell , toasty , brioche finish . This is fully mature and is at peak in magnum , drink now and over the next 5 -10 years .
