Much more open on day two, with a lifted, beautiful nose of mineral, red fruit, confectionery notes, cotton candy, mid-season cherry and spice. The palate has gained elegance and expression, with remarkable tiny-berry fruit intensity, terrific purity and excellent balance. This is clearly a nervy, high-acid expression of the wine, and there are still some harder edges that need time to sand down, but the material is outstanding. Bright, energetic and beautifully delineated, with the fruit more visible today and the structure still firmly in command. 9.4 now, with clear potential for 9.5–9.6 as it develops. Baby Kupfergrube GG here. What a nose. Wow. Just sickness. 9.4 off the bat. Confectionary. Creamy. Peach. Rainer cherries. So clear and refined. Very expansive and airy. Peach fuzz. Barely ripe peach skin and pith. Just a terrific nose. Palate is so elegant and fine. Just as mineral as the Vom Schiefer but it caresses rather than bludgeons. Really classic, refined and again, that gut H intense, refined and complex minerality. Really mouthfilling and a lovely intense mineral roundness. Structured and intense. Very long and finishes super saline and salty. — 5 years ago
