Frankland Estate

Isolation Ridge Vineyard Riesling 2014

Notes of mandarin on both nose and palate. Not a skerrick of TDN - clean and pure. Almost off dry in the light to medium bodied palate with peachy notes developing. Tastes a lot younger than 11 years. One of the most isolated vineyards in the remote terroir of Frankland River. The wine is aptly named as “Isolation Ridge”. — 2 months ago

Love Frankland Estate, it was consistently imported to the U.S. back in the 1990s, then disappeared. We visited in late 2023, and found out the generation now running it had some connection to UC Davis (we live on the outskirts of Davis), but it’s still a tough find here in Northern California. But DEFINITELY remote!!

Crossfire Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

2018 vintage on 10/19/25 with homemade bake rigatoni. Nice cab that went well with the red sauce. — 3 months ago

West Ridge Pinot Noir 2012

Feels like it hasn't evolved much, just softened a bit. Earthy, viscous, lingering primary notes.

Fleshy cherry and cedar with soft tannins and minerals to think a little bit about.

A bit. Such high expectations compounding over years - not much wow…

Heytesbury Margaret River Chardonnay 2015

An amazing high level Margaret River Chardonnay drinking at its peak. Smoky herbal aromas with ripe grapefruit. A medium + bodied palate of profound intensity. Still mainly citrus and ripe grapefruit notes on the palate with mineral. Great right now but would go on at this level for a year or two. My last bottle of the 2015. — 3 months ago

This Aussie Chardonnay could easily pass for a Chablis with its freshness and minerality. Very enjoyable. — 3 months ago

Moss Wood Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

This 2011 is drinking very nicely and is worthy of its accolades, lovely crimson rim to deep ruby centre, nice tobacco flavours on nose and mouth filling with integrated tannins.
Smooth and long lasting aftertaste

Chardonnay Where the Dreams have no end .... 2021

When cold, aromas reminded me of Meyer lemon cheesecake and brine but as wine warmed a bit, aromas turned to bright lemon, lavender, and gardenia. Baking spices and minerals buried deep. Beautiful wine with a finish to match. As worthy as any fine Chard the world offers. — 3 months ago
