Summertime and Summer Wine

It's about summertime, and the living is...hot. We're on our way to July, and many of us are starting to, if not already, experience the summer heat. What can you do to stay cool besides sitting in front of the AC, jumping in any nearby body of water, or just sweating 24/7? You could pop a few bottles of wine cool enough to battle the summer heat. We've gathered notes from the Delectable community to help you find the bottle to match your chosen way to stay cool. From poolside sippers to beach beverages, we have it all. Cheers and stay cool!

Terre Siciliane Frappato 2022

The perfect summer wine. Lightly chilled like they do in Sicilian restos. Beautiful transparent color, highly mineral and salty, only 12.5 degrees. — 6 months ago

Castello di Amorosa

North Coast Pinot Grigio 2020

Pale lemon in color with a green hue.

Fruity nose of citrus, lemons, apples, sweet grapefruits, light green vegetables, herbs and spices.

Medium-bodied with medium plus acidity. Nice and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with citrus, lemons, yellow apples, spices, light tropical fruits, white pepper and minerals.

Medium finish with limes and light grapefruits.

This is a very tasty Pinot Grigio from California. Easy drinking with nice balance.

Good by itself or with food, and will pair nicely with fresh green salads.

Tangy and fruit forward with a creamy mouthfeel.

A great party wine that I had by the pool with a great view.

13.7% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$26.

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Great with a backyard steak. Medium bodied. Very drinkable now... but I’ve had some that do bring on added dimensions when put away. Nose was soft, but hard to compete with the outdoors. — 3 years ago

Sword of the Sun Sake

Very pretty and on the delicate side. Packaging nails the tasting notes with cucumber, green tea, and melon rind, though I also get the banana that many tasters mention. From a small brewery, and a prefecture known for its pristine water sources. Pair with Kumamoto oysters or scallop sashimi. Environmentally sustainable, energy efficient brewery. Alcohol stands out to me at 15.5%. — 6 months ago
