Bright gold with fine persistent bubbles. Ripe yellow apple and toasted brioche on the abundant nose. Complex palate is medium in body and echoes the nose adding citrus rind, birch ash, and white pepper. Taut, bubble-enhanced acidity, of course. Hard to beat this as an everyday NV. Holds its own as a special occasion bubbly, too. Drink it when you buy it (as if you were going to do otherwise). — 3 years ago
Water-damaged label, pristine cork, fantastic sweet fruit in this lovely Pomerol, super balance, seems mature, long finish, so good and refreshing, great acid. — 3 years ago
I’m between a 92-93 here. Rounding up due to potential.
A producer I’ve had a few times over the years that for some reason I didn’t explore, even though I always quite enjoyed them (chards and Pinots alike). I picked up a few random bottles from the winery to explore more, and was told to start with the offering as it’s easily accessible.
Down the middle style when it comes to Cali chard. Coastal (bright, sea spray, crystalline), but ripe (beautiful juicy orchard fruits). In the background there is a sweet lemon flair. Aromatics and palate match up, though it had some flinty reduction notes to blow off when opening. Profile wise, I’d say this is more soft and rounded than Ceritas, but not as powerful or bold as Aubert/Marcassin. — 3 years ago
A Santa Barbara stunner! Beautiful garnet color. Exquisite aromas of hibiscus, cranberry and wet gravel. The pallet is plush with flavors of strawberry, cranberry, raspberries and red licorice. Persistent acidity. Fresh and lively! Lighter in body and style but also bold at the same time due to the wine’s incredible balance. Left me wanting more! — 3 years ago
