Can anything beat a 1982 Bordeaux in perfect harmony? I haven’t found it yet. This Beychevelle is just pure class - nose was a little reticent, which is the only thing holding this back from a higher score but there’s some cassis, sous bois and tobacco notes. Palate is pure pleasure - cassis, tobacco, leather and a long finish. Tannins completely melted, this beauty is still youthful and should last a while, but why wait? I’m still shocked that bottles like this exist for purchase but damn I’m glad they do. This was absolute magic with homemade duck confit. — 3 years ago
Always enjoy having this wine. It has never ceased to impress. Todays wine was the 2018 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello. This is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.
The nose has notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, licorice, herbs, violets, leather and brick dust.
On the palate gave me cherry, plum, blackberry, red currant, hint of vanilla, spices, black pepper, cedar and earth.
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth velvety mouthfeel on entry, medium to medium + acidity and medium + fine elegant grippy tannins that has a long red and blie fruit dusty finish. Hope your week has started on a good note and the week ahead is smooth as this Tignanello. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 3 years ago
Fresh cherry, strawberry, and light vanilla on the nose. The palate features more ripe, fresh cherry and strawberry along with raspberry, strawberry jam, cinnamon, burnt sugar, and cedar with hints of sweet ripe orange and lemon. Low tannins, medium minus alcohol, and high acid. This vintage needs decanting to open up. — 3 years ago
2016 vintage. Still banging. 4th bottle in the last three months. Medium body. Nose has improved and has a deep, dark funk going down with earth, cedar, paint chips (yes please), currant and salinity lurking about. A little bit more on the medium-dry finish finally showing now…composed with plenty of dark cherry, herbs, mushrooms and black plum. I think this was my last bottle. Time to pick up another half-case. — 3 years ago

Muted and overly subdued. Bones are there. I wanted to to try it but will let the other bottles sit longer. — 3 years ago
