Elegant nose with black current, plum and black raspberry fruit with accents of graphite and tamari. Palate shows high toned cassis, plum and pomegranate fruit with sweet fruit tannins and energetic, zesty acidity. Mineral driven berry fruit tones dominate the finish. So precisely balanced that it is throughly enjoyable now but demonstrates the potential for and easy 7 to 10 years of development. — 3 years ago
Fourth of five fun, fantastic, and frugal wines for everyday drinking. The kind that are an unbelievably great deal! Rioja from a classic producer and a great vintage at that. This wine has that perfect red wine color, not too faded not too bright. The nose is perfect as well: red fruit, chocolate, oak, and good hints of tabaco and leather. Pure decadence on the pallet: big, broad, bold and a lengthy finish. For around twenty three bucks this is a no-brainer, decanting is not even necessary. Cheers. — 3 years ago
Fontodi, Chianti Classico, ABV 14.5%, Vintage 2018.
We love pairing Sangiovese wine with food. The vibrant acidity always counterbalances the saltiness of most dishes and accentuates savory, rich food flavors, sometimes playing a supporting role, and always willing to share the center stage. Not to mention it offers firm tannins which are especially complementary with red meats.
This organically-produced wine offers concentrated sour cherry, pomegranate, black currant fruit notes, alongside violet, licorice, pencil shavings, sweet balsamic aromas and flavors; with secondary notes of vanilla, clove, cedar; and tertiary notes (not necessarily due to age) of leather, tobacco, animal, and earth. In sum, it’s layered and interesting, while also being simply delicious, especially with some time to breathe.
This wine hails from vineyards located in the “Conca d’Oro” valley of Chianti Classico DOCG located in Tuscany region of Central Italy. It was aged for 18 months in Allier and Tronçais barriques. — 3 years ago
Pale ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of red cherry, red plum, forest floor, savory herbs; dry, medium plus acid, medium refined tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, pronounced intensity flavors consistent with aromas; beautifully perfumed, balanced, outstanding — 3 years ago
Black and red cherry fruit aromas, dried cran and raisin, display a light tangerine, sage, aloe and pepper dust. Sweet tobacco, and spot on measures of cedar and smoke. Dried cherry, pointedly tart raspberry, black cherry, cocoa, coffee, and tarragon round out the palate. Juicy in places; lean on the pyrotechnics. Balanced in a word.

After pop-n-pour: not giving much. Clenched, reticent.
After two hours this is still tight, but starting to show blackberries, black cherries, smoke, cedar and ink.
Approachable, better to wait a few more years and let it turn into something beautiful. — 3 years ago

Deep color and incredible nose. Picking up french oak, cassis, blackberry, and sugar crystals. Wonderfully, lightly tannic. Nice complexity, delicious finish. — 3 years ago
