Emilio Ramirez Envinate

Benje Tenerife Tinto 2020

Truly special wine, balancing assertive acidity w perfect ripeness, red fruits and earth/savory notes mingle and harmonize along a very lengthy well structured finish. Despite its technical perfection it is wild and free. — 2 years ago

Selection Rosé Champagne Blend

Much better this time, almost feels like a different champagne than what I drank last. Much smoother with red berries and a long finish. The list price is insane; the $120 I paid are worth it. A great champagne to toast to the 10th anniversary of paying off the mortgage :) — 2 years ago

Podere le Boncie (Giovanna Morganti)

Le Trame Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2018

Juicy, bright, Sangiovese. Opens up beautifully. One of my favorites. Have bought multiple bottles over the years and doesn’t disappoint. Works well naturally with all Italian meals. I suppose I should have waited another year or two but I wanted to enjoy it last night! — 2 years ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Rioja Rosé Blend 2009

All bow to our host who broke out the big guns for a spicy cod meal he prepared. As the only wine I’ve ever witnessed such grotesque price appreciation (from 20 to 100, within a five year span?), it’s hard not to project all kinds of feelings & opinions about it. Still, it remains a wine of reflection & complexity, not to mention of a unique deep copper color I’ve always adored. Such waves of strange & wonderful flavors, including dried hibiscus, turmeric, licorice & porcini mushrooms. Moderate acidity, like an elegant aunt who dresses just right. And still young, within the Lopez universe. — 2 years ago

One must savor this “rose” Lopez. Available infrequently but worth the wait. Oxidized style that lingers on your tongue with a minerally zest that flows.

RIESLING J.J. KABINETT 2020

Great acid, lime, key lime, white flowers, peach, hint of flint. The Kabinett is noticeably sweeter than the 1,000L which I prefer, but the acidity really holds it together. Still, really impressive and great QPR. — 2 years ago

Spottswoode

Family Estate Grown St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

A very solid wine for a difficult year. Deep dark ruby. Juicy blackberries, black cherries, currants, aged leather, tobacco. A bit chalky with a full mouthfeel. Depth and structured with smooth tannins and bright acidity. Drinking well now after 45 min decant. Really enjoyable! — 2 years ago

Azienda Agricola Montesecondo

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2019

N: Dirteee! Musky cherries, loam, tilled soil, liquorice, forest, balsam, Big Nose!
Smell that for 1/2 an hr. you’re in Tuscany.
P: Very bright, tobacco, Cherries, liquid earth, it has that existential Chianti otherness that we crave. The acidity craves protein, tomatoes, ya. Tannins are well integrated but present.
Happy Spring y’all.

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2000

Amazing stuff. Blue fruits, touch of cedar and wet earth on the nose; palate is big and chewy - tannins almost fully integrated, blue fruits and unctuous. This one is only going to get better. — 2 years ago

Hundred Acre Vineyard

Kayli Morgan Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Extremely surprising. Really excellent. Lots of fruit and power, yet purity and slight minerality. Reminded me of scarecrow a bit # — 2 years ago
