Viña Tondonia Rioja Rosé Blend 2009

The 2009 ‘Gran Reserva’ Rose by Vina Tondonia is an impressive blend of 60% Garnacho with 30% Tempranillo and 10% Viura. This beautiful Rose wine was aged for four years in American oak and another five years in the bottle. On the nose this opens with bright red fruits with blood orange and wild mushroom that are wrapped around toasty oak in the glass. The palate is silky smooth, revealing a seductive texture and a bright minerality with a brilliant beam of salinity. Remarkably light on its feet, this ‘Gran Reserva’ unveils beautiful red fruits and suggestions of kumquat and teaberry with peat moss undertones. Highly novel and complex, simply put, there is nothing like this wine. While delightful now this will age gracefully for at least another decade. Drink 2019-2029- 94 — 5 years ago

@Dr. Owen Bargreen awesome note...thank you!! I made a call the moment I read your review and snagged a bottle from my local source. I got lucky. The entire State of Nebraska only got one case 😩

M. Chapoutier

Chante - Alouette Hermitage Blanc Marsanne 1989

Super cool to have a 30-year-old white from the Rhone. Probably would have been better decanted - had a lot of stuff to blow off - but this place clearly stores their wines well. This Chapoutier is still fresh. There was a mustiness to the nose (not corked - just age), but when that blew off, the wine had impressive layers of flavor that was dominated by petrol mixed with white flowers. Was probablt better 5-10 years ago...but still cool! — 5 years ago

Whoa. Some genius mad freak mutant wine. Nose is apricots. Palate is perfect peach and mineral. Huge acids. Long fresh juicy finish. Palate soaking. Terrific juiciness and tartness. Fresh as a daisy after 9 years. 9 years. Wow. Bought from fass selections. ... wow insane density. — 5 years ago

Le Bordeaux de Bernard Margrez White Bordeaux Blend 2013

Really interesting white blend. Petrol and mineral yet there is a sweetness to it. A very interesting wine, I have never had anything like this before. Changes when paired with the right foods. — 5 years ago

Azienda Agricola Cianfagna

Sator Tintilia del Molise 2011

Lovely wine. Black cherry, black raspberry, and has a nose like an aged Primitivio. A bit of heat is noticeable and the wine is light on the attack with an acidic kick and then dense and almost cloying plum note on the midpalate. Long finish but the tannins are a little drying and dense and sneak up on you. An interesting and rare indigenous grape from a region not known for much. — 5 years ago

Monthly WTF guys blind tasting group. This month was our annual, and famed, Left Bank vs Right Bank theme. All wines served blind as usual. Started off with a Rosé and a champagne. Great night.

I really enjoyed this. Haven’t had any wines from this producer before. The aromatics covered the entire fruit spectrum (red, blue and black) alongside nutmeg and birch wood. Full bodied...fig, tar, baking spices on the palate. Delicious now. I called this ‘10 Right Bank.

The Deal Sundance Vineyard Syrah 2015

First K wine. Might have to hit up the tasting room while I’m up here in Seattle. Nice wine. The color of the glass is less opaque than the syrahs ive been drinking from california. I personally didn’t get a ton of meat on this wine. I got beautiful raspberry and blue fruits on the palate. The style reminds me of the richer biale zins: beautiful fresh pure fruit but not overdone in alcohol or sweetness. 91-92 — 5 years ago
