Scharzhof Riesling 2018

Good sweetness without being dessert. Acidity and crispness offset the sweet and made this an enjoyable aperitif and appetizer wine. — a year ago

Sesti (Castello di Argiano)

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

Aging was more advanced than I thought it would be. Browning and stronger balsamic notes. — a year ago

Silver Oak

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

#AgedWineTuesday

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/brick rim.

Very complex nose with cedar, black fruits and vegetables.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with great complexity.

Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, tobacco leaf, earth, dark coffee, chocolates, black pepper, black tea, bell pepper, Indian spices and vegetables.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 26 year old Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking very nicely now, although might be past its prime.

Feels like an aged Left Bank Bordeaux.

Loved the nose here, but needed an hour of airtime to open up. After 3 hours of airtime, more vegetable and earth notes show up.

Robert Parker 94 points.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.

13.9% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$150.

Clau de Nell Anjou Cabernet Franc 2020

2020. I wanted to try something similar in body to the Pinot Noir, but with different aromas and flavors because my daughter has become interested in trying new pairings. Lighter than the Pinot, and had a brett aroma when first opened that was new and unappealing at first, but when it opened up in the decanter, it was our favorite with the grilled lamb kebab. — a year ago

Sanaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Aroma of dehydrated pineapple, vanilla, caramel. Peat is the primary flavour up front, but toffee and oats in the background. And a long earthy and spicy finish. — a year ago

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1995

Still remarkably youthful, it’s rich, dense and dark fruited, layered with classicism of cigar box, cedar and spices. The palate is concentrated and powerful with a silky texture and incredible length. 95 is nowhere near its peak. Many more years to go. And while I’ll never be a real Bordeaux lover, it’s clear what makes these first growths special. — a year ago
