Okay. Probably got the the apex of our Barossa experience. Insane. So concentrated. Drippings of luscious deep dark bramble, plum, edges of jammyness guided by beautifully round, fresh, present tannins that guides the wine to a finish that settles you down for a long, cozy winters nap. Oops, not possible because you want that next sip, again, again and again. Beautiful experience because we had it with perfect food (bbq Lamb, pomegranate Cyprus salad) and great company!! Wonderful blend - smooth perfect pairing with salmon and steak tar tar — a year ago
This is fantastic. So well balanced and not what I thought it would at all. Much more savory herbs and graphite than I was expecting. The fruit almost supports the rock and spice blend. Good tart berries. The finish is long and dry and lovely. I’d say this lives up to hype and scores. — a year ago
A full body, heavy blanc Hermitage, 66% Marsanne and 34% Roussanne. Yellow hay color, brilliant. Noticed nose of pear, strudel apple, even guave.
Thick palate, meaty in structure (for wine), very balanced. Missing the final kick of the minerality. Great experience. — a year ago
The Mascot is made from the young vines of Harlan, Promitory and Bond and you can really taste the royal pedigree here. Still in the fruit/primary phase with drying tannins. Very singular palate with a lot of concentration. Give these some additional cellar time to really shine. 95/96 potential — a year ago
2005 vintage. Wowzers. Never been the biggest Lafite guy. Have had all the big vintages since/including 1961 but never been officially “wowed” or wowzered by Lafite. Achievement unlocked. Decanted and tasted after 2.5 hours. Threw a pretty respectable amount of sed. Cork was pristine. Nose was slightly more forward upon a high decant than usual. Light-medium body. Great, underlying richness flowing through from start to finish. An incredible 45 second denouement. Showing fantastically currently but no rush to crush. This ain’t goin nowhere. 11.5.23. — a year ago
