Cuvée Gastronome 1er Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay Champagne 2018

9.2

Lovely to finish a long evening.

Paired w/ shortbread w/ Macadamia nuts.

I like their craft. This is good but will ascend for 10 years.

Reductive in style. Pineapple, lemon, grapefruit, lime zest, white peach, light tropical melons, cheese cloth, cream, some mint, bread dough, yeast, limestone alluvials, sandstone, light white spice, sea fossils, baguette crust, yeastiness, bread dough, yellow lilies, jasmine, Spring flowers, round crisp acidity, well balanced, nicely knitted, with a smartly polished, elegant finish that’s lasts two-minutes.

La Cabotte Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2015

Bright and punchy and zesty with a punch of marzipan and driving lemon. Good minerality. Punchy. A bit early to tell. But great bones. From mag. — 3 months ago

Sabine Aix en Provence Rosé Blend 2023

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2023 Rosé Sabine is ripe, vibrant and structured. Spiced red fruit and almonds rush across the palate, supported by energetic acidity and a bit of grip that pleasantly tugs at the cheeks. This is a fine example of classically styled Provençal Rosé. (Billy Norris, Vinous, May 2024)

HWT - I think it’s around $70? It was light and delicious, small bubbles, but a very nice flavor. — 4 months ago

Hochar Père & Fils Bekaa Valley Red Blend 2020

Dark garnet purple. Funkily inviting nose of brambly montmorency cherry, dark cranberry, and currant (red & black). Echoed on the medium full palate which adds dark raspberry and a hint of patent leather. All supported by medium plus acidity and wrapped in velvety medium plus tannins. Finish is long and continues the entire palate along with those tannins. Rustic without the earth best describes this affordable and food-friendly Lebanese red. Rustic-inspired (I chose shepherd's pie) or Mediterranean fare will naturally pair. Drink now through 2030. — 5 months ago

Brut Réserve Champagne Blend

This has something for everyone. Zippy fruit, yeasty, and good depth. Best part is it isn’t crazy expensive for a comparative bottle — 2 months ago

Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus Grèves Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Brief notes. Showed better than the 2013 vintage we had in December 2021. Quite rich, sweet and fruit driven as well as spicy notes. Tasting more new world in this warm vintage. A good wine without being great. Have the last one in a couple of years ie 2026. — 2 months ago

Domaine Grand Veneur Les Champauvins Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2016

Big, ripe, structured Grenache, rich redfruits, shows just a bit of almost too much ABV (15%), which leaves this showing a little booziness in the medium-long finish, with that said, still very nice!! — 4 months ago
