First taste after saving for so long! From GL but unfortunately no email left. Very structured and deep with earthy ripe floral notes and what seemed like a typical medium garnet color. Interesting story on vineyard. 10-15% Neive Nebbiolo! One bottle left, plus two barbaresco. — 4 years ago

Lookit that color. Mt Eden is so damn consistent and so good. Butterscotch, vanilla bean creme brûlée, mandarin orange, lemon zest, clove, pineapple cake, bit of smoke. Almost touches an exotic fruit register, quite opulent but I’m all about it. @Adriana Fabbro give your Rombauer customers this instead — 5 years ago

Drank 12/7/18. Champagne event. Tasting pour.

Nose of yeast, Carmel, and green apple, reminiscent of a vintage champagne. Bright, green apple, brioche, and mineral. Well balanced with minerality on the finish.

We had it at diner in Rio with friends Adriana and Marcelo. Very dark rubi robe, dense, rich, but balanced and fresh. Not the most complex VR but the Jadot style is very classical and the wine goes really well with it. Recommended. — 5 years ago

With Adriana we always loved Chateau Montrose. This bottle is the last of 6 she bought in NY for us back in 1999 when we were in Rio and she was traveling for work. Its old fashion bordeaux. Alcohol is a mere 12.5 degrees. Maturity is there but there is lots of acidity and tannins that are now civilized after 20+ years in bottle. Medium bodied, black currant, discrete peppery notes from cabernet, asphalt and steak tartare. An excellent but not exceptional Montrose to drink or hold. We like it a great deal !!! — 7 years ago

I carricante believe how delicious this is at the price. (Pun credit to @Adriana Fabbro). Pale yellow, toasty nuts, lemon zest, honey, dried flowers and hay on the nose, palate is viscous and honeyed but with searing acidity, lemon and chalk, green apple, melon, peach, smoky sage on the back. Just got a couple in and opened one just for the halibut. — 5 years ago

This is a 2017 barrel sample of the Catena Zapata Adriana River Stones.

On the nose; ruby dark currants/cassis, dark rich soils, dry stones & crush rocks, blackberries, blue fruits, blackberries, black plum, dark chocolate baking bar, herbal notes, vanilla, lavender & violets.

On the palate; the body is beautifully full. Tannins are dry, rounded, tarry and sticky. Big structure, huge tension, great length and good potential balance.
Ruby dark currants/cassis, dark rich soils, dry stones & crush rocks, blackberries, blue fruits, blackberries, black plum, some creamy raspberries on the edges, dark chocolate baking bar, herbal notes, dry river stones, crushed dry rock powder, loamy dry top soil, leather, coffee grounds, vanilla, lavender & violets. Good acidity. The finish is very dry tannins and earth. It’s expected as its still in barrel but shows a lot of promise.
