Château Chasse-Spleen

Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

Dar rubi robe, nose of blackcurrant, anise and limestone. Very cabernet in the mouth with the peppery register, rounded up by the ripe Merlot. Great acidity and balance, an excellent bottle just lacking a bit of complexity which is typical of the 2000 bordeaux. — 2 months ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

Quite deep ruby garnet core and medium ruby garnet rim. This is showing more development, with cedar , cigar box , cassis and blackberry richness , aromatic and enticing from the very beginning . On the palate with is well balanced with a good mineral backbone , grafite and blackcurrant hints , really good symmetry and balanced , refreshing acidity , polished fine tannin . Long finish . Showing well now , in a really good spot where this has development on the nose but no lack of fruit of backbone on the palate . Will certainly continue at this level for another 10- 15 years . — 4 months ago

Château Gloria

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. Another excellent Gloria. While it may not have the intensity and depth of the extraordinary 2016, there is a lot to like here. Blackcurrant, blueberries, blackberries, cedar wood, graphite, and the most subtle hint of vanilla jump out of the glass. In the mouth it has a light feel about it , even if it features concentrated black fruit due to the freshness that characterises this wonderful vintage. Purity, balance and elegance are key here while maintaining classic Saint-Julien power. Definitely of Grand Cru Classé quality. This estate is on a hot streak and still affordable. Highly recommended. Abv. 13,5% . — 2 years ago

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Medium deep ruby, medium wide garnet rim . A bid rounder and more genourously fruited than the Cantemerle , ripe blackberry , blackcurrant , but some sea spray , oyster shell notes too . Tobacco hints also. On the palate this shows a bit more rounded generous fruit and some grippy , slightly rustic, tannins (more than the Cantemerle) good fresh acidity still . More fruit at first , and a little more glycerine on the palate . Good tobacco , blackcurrant and grafite finish , slightly saline , oyster shell notes also . Good length. This is showing better than the Cantemerle , and a little more generous in terms of fruit and ripeness . Good now but will now doubt age well further over the next 10-15 years . For Sociando Mallet this is a good , really quite accomplished wine. — 2 months ago
