Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2023 “Buri Bellaria” Friulano pours a deep straw color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe orchard and some tropical fruit: peach cup, pear, ripe pineapple, Meyer lemon, and rocky, inorganic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is silky. Alcohol is medium+. A distinctive wine; full of beauty. 2022/6/8-10 with scallop crudo, homemade fresh tagliolini al Portonat, frico, etc. A nice mix of more “typical”, bright Sauvignon Blanc citrus and herbs with richer, stone fruit notes. The 2019 Schioppettino is remarkably pretty and floral, with violets and roses complementing its wild red berries and hints of smoke. This is soft-textured and lifted in feel, yet also packed full of fleshy raspberry fruit, as exotic spices build within. It leaves a tinge of sour citrus while finishing lightly structured and with a staining like liquid lavender. Lovers of Schioppettino will fall head over heels for the 2019.
