Cave La Madeleine

Cave Caloz (Anne-Carole et Conrad Caloz)

La Mourziere Les Coteaux de Sierre Humagne 2020

I have FINALLY tried wine from the rare Humange Rouge grape, grown deep in the Swiss Alps, and it did not disappoint.

Black cherry and Cranberry to start before settling into a herbal and lightly mineral finish. The way it twists from one into the other is beautiful.

Anne de K Brut Blanc des Blancs Crémant d'Alsace Chardonnay Blend

Floral, green apple, toasted biscuits. Cremant’s will almost always be better than any Champagne you’ll pick off the shelf and at a fraction of the price! — 6 months ago

Couly-Dutheil

La Baronnie Madeleine Chinon Cabernet Franc 2015

Vintage 2015 | Italian rooftiles coloured rim, spicy smell and nicely developed velvety taste. Chinon that is aged can be só comforting. Cab franc shines. Paired with a simple but good spaghetti meatballs tomatosauce. It makes my day. — 9 months ago

Start to finish luxurious! Bouquet, color, and legs are amazing. Delicious with matured flavors of vanilla, apple, and a hint of pear! Finish is long and velvety. Enjoy!! — 3 months ago

Cuvée Madeleine Collignon Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2020

Very powerful and deep. Brooding notes of dark plum. Some oak, spice and blood. Great stuff but very hard to unpack right now. — 6 months ago

Benjamin Leroux

Clos de la Cave des Ducs Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

A pale tawny cherry red in colour. A monopole (lots of Monopoles in Volnay) This from only 1.5 acres. Sappy, but overall aromas are subdued. The palate is subtle, restrained and overall delicate but has wonderful balance and the ideal accompaniment to Roast Duck Legs. Makes the most of its terroir in Volnay aided by the winemaking of Benjamin Leroux. After a few hours in decanter that light to medium bodied sappy palate remains. Certainly right to drink this now I believe. — 9 months ago

Château de Montfaucon

Comtesse Madeleine de Montfaucon Côtes du Rhône Clairette 2014

From goblet-trained old-vine Clairette in Lirac (vineyard was “planted before 1870) on a hill overlooking the Rhône on the west side of the river, this lovely white wine shows honey and minerals, also some very nice acidity to balance, Clairette (which I adore) rarely shows the more viscous textural notes I get from southern Rhône Blancs that are mostly Roussanne and/or Marsanne (the latter mostly found in the northern Rhône), very good finish, lovely wine!!
I have actually walked this vineyard (6 years ago), the gnarled old vines are a pretty cool sight!!

Cave Maurice Bonnamy

Crémant De Loire Brut Cabernet Franc

Soft, creamy, not overly acidic but nicely balanced this is a great value! Nose of green citrus rind, maybe some orange or kalamunsi, sea air and slight hints of fresh cut grass on a pale yellow/green color. Light to medium bodied, with tiny bubbles, and slightly creamy palate that shines mostly of Chenin, with a dry palate but not stark, with notes of cooked leeks with butter, sumo orange and wet stone like minerality. — 6 months ago
