Jeroboam 2005. They say this was a challenging vintage. This bottling beats the challenge. 21 years from harvest it opens up beautifully. Luscious leather, dark cherry with tobacco and currant. @Peter van den Besselaar, did you notice any newish oak? About 10-15 years I bought a Chamte Cigale VV (after having much older vintages), the wine I bought had GREAT reviews, but I just despise oodles of new oak in my CdPs!?!?

@Doug Powers I did some research. 70% of the wine was kept on stainless steel and 30% in new barrels for 12 months. The wine was balanced with well integrated wood. We even dit not notice it. Making choices for more or less wood seems very difficult to me. Perhaps you had the wine when the vintner was still searching for the perfect recipe? But certainly you might try it again.
