Henri Jayer

Échezéaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1998

Henri et Georges Jayer Echezeaux 1998. Vines owned by Henri’s brother Georges. 2X with this wine. Richer and fuller in body(than the Jayer Cros Parantoux 1998 drunk alongside) and became silkier, more savory, and more elegant with time in decanter. Arguably not at apogee, although drinking fantastically now. — 4 years ago

Les Rougiers Marcillac Fer Servadou

Balanced and good grip. Clearly getting there. Might last another year or two but won’t improve beyond that. — 6 years ago

Louis Blanc Pergola 1877

Notes of pear and apricot, with hints of oak but not much. I loved this for a night of tapas with friends. — 24 days ago

Le Bastion Syrah Viognier 2019

Syrah married to Viognier for a daring blend (like Côte-Rotie) on Langedoc lands. Exuberant grape, it expresses spices, coulis of fresh black berries and finally a note of fresh licorice. Supple, early, fresh, delicious. — 5 years ago
