Château Du Tertre Belair

Château du Tertre

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

Gingerbread, tobacco and tea leaf, cloves, sweet cherry acidity, some powdery tannins left, bay leaf, orange peel, balsamic vinegar, beginning the autumnal phase of its life. Beautiful now, especially if you enjoy tertiary notes in your wine. Beautiful, balanced, and holds its own in the glass. An "older youngster," so to speak. — 9 days ago

Great lineup & dinner with Louis Michel. He showcased his amazing wines in what he termed were difficult vintages. — 6 months ago

Château Belair-Monange

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Huge dark fruit and still primary at this time. The oak is hardly noticeable given its age and the tannins are soft. This can age based on the amount of fruit, I just wonder how it will hold up given how soft the tannins are. Definitely drinkable now. — 6 months ago

Monopole Clos du Château Vosne-Romanée Pinot Noir 2016

Stunningly great. Lots of depth and solid bones but the heavenly enveloping feeling was what put this over the top. The fruit was well developed. — 8 months ago

Vieilles Vignes Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2010

Poured into a decanter about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2010 pours a hazy garnet/purple color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of tart, ripe and desiccated fruits: blackberries, black licorice, horse blanket, some animale, mushrooms, forest floor, rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. It has been eight years since I last enjoyed this vintage of the VV and it continues to age with a lot of grace. Drink now through 2030+. — 21 days ago

Les Grands Chaillots Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2021

2021 vintage. Last tasted 07.23.24 (9.2). This bottle (like that one, tasted at a fave resto) chilled down a bit and traced over 1.25 hours. That bottle $120 then...now...same bottle $140 off the list. This visit a tad tighter and closer to the vest. Still very nice. 01.21.25. — 6 months ago

@Pinotman /// Andreas Yeah, a bit pricey but was in the mood for red Burg vs red Rhône, BDX or elsewhere. Rarely buy 750ml bottles when dining out (usually do btg) so a small splurge.

Château Le Tertre Rôteboeuf

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

#AgedWineTuesday

Beautiful color of dark ruby with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose of black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, dried fruits, cedar, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco and herbs.

Full bodied and soft, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, black currants, black plums, cherries, cedar, spices, dark chocolates, licorice, coffee, peppercorn, light eucalyptus, herbs, light vegetables, earth and black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 20 year old Merlot from Saint Emilion is absolutely fantastic now. Elegant, chocolatey and rich.

Drinking beautifully right out of the bottle, extracted and complex. Nicely balanced and powerful, with a great mouthfeel.

Wine Advocate 98 points.

Drinking it with the wine maker, from his personal cellar, makes it even more special for me.

Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 10 years.

Fruit forward and good by itself as a sipping wine.

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Aged in New French oak barrels for 18 months.

94 points.

$350.
