Château La Lagune

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

Christmas Day. Another wonderful experience with 1989 Bordeaux, this time La Lagune from the Haut-Médoc, a wine that is particularly ageworthy and on this occasion absolutely singing. Fresh, sappy fruit and youthful vigour on the palate, this was a clean, pristine bottle and utterly drinkable – it just about lasted throughout dinner. — 4 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Quite bright medium ruby , ruby pink rim . Quite elegant and reserved , some red cherry, violet , summer fruits , scorched earth , touch of spice . On the palate quite elegant also , summer fruits, blackberry , blackcurrant , red plum . Good balanced acidity , herbal touches on the medium length , saline tinged finish . Quite polished but still grippy tannins . This is showing well , especially with food , but has a relatively long future , from now and over the next 5-10 years. A very successful second wine . — 14 days ago

Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

A 5th Growth from the left bank of Bordeaux that never disappoints. Multi-layered, enticing aromas of red fruit, leathery and dried leaf, raising and date fruits, makes this earthy wine a nice option. Had the 2013 vintage and still delivers. Solid tannins, dry and not so aggressive on the mid-range of the palate. Silky finish. — 5 hours ago

Château Haut-Batailley

Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend 2004

Shared by our host. Great wine in a lesser vintage. Nose of tar, black currant, cedar, cigar box. It's aged, but it's still kicking. The palate shows some acid drive, some width, some nice red and black berry notes, some really dusty tannins that are drying in the rear and a very long finish with a savoury thing in the rear. Great tasting experience. Thank you, Nicolas ! — 3 days ago

Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Decanted 3 hours prior - but kept evolving in the glass. Typical flavor profiles, was initially closed but then nicely opened up. Very smooth and just pleasurable to drink on this New Year’s Eve. — 17 hours ago

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. Last tasted 7.7.24 (9.3) and 3.15.24 (9.2). Medium-heavy body. Previously hesitant and reticent tannins beginning to creep into the finish right off the bat. Starts off fairly fruity, then tapers that down a bit at the end. Harmonious and über-pleasant. PNP now, double park it for a ten-spot or investigate somewhere in between. Consider the invitation proffered. Haut-Médoc doesn't move the needle at work (wish it did) but always more than happy to crush this Bordeaux bestie off premise. Consistent catch-all producer with "that's all?!" pricing. 12.03.24. — a month ago

Yep know about this producer. Given my limited time/opportunity to drink wine switched quite some time over to drink mostly Pinot for the reds.
