Château Latour Camblanes

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

2 hour decant(decent chunky sediment). A stunning dark crimson color with little bricking. On the nose: expressive perfumed notes of dark red fruit, creme de cassis, mushrooms, floral, touch of stewed meat and cigar box. Taste: velvety, classy, fresh wine with red fruit, minerals, herbal, earth, pencil lead and a nice peppery cedar/leather medium plus finish. Sure, maybe not the depth/concentration of a classic vintage, but I can sniff/sip this wine all night. YUM! Happy Father's day to me. — 19 days ago

Chassagne-Montrachet Chardonnay 2007

Came across a 2007 Chassagne-Montrachet at my local shop. He tells me: “I sell low price because nobody has interest in it”. Knowing what these vintages go for and how well they can drink, I instantly jumped on the chance. I am proud to have found this hidden gem because this year was sensationally rich, surprisingly lower acidity than expected, and just a wonderful experience. As the wine sits on the palate, it just continues to grow and compliment itself. I instantly called the owner and had him hold the remaining 3 bottles for me. What a wine!! — 14 days ago

Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour Red Bordeaux Blend 1978

I personally saved this wine from my cellar. It’s the year I was married. It’s as fresh as when I purchased it. Deep purple color. Smooth as silk. No aftertaste. Wonderful earthy tastes. Some plums. Just wonderful. — 10 days ago

Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Deep ruby . Quite deep and restrained cassis and blackberry, grafite , cedar and spice. On the palate very good definition and balance with ripe cassis , blackcurrant and dark cherry , grafite and cedar, mineral , oyster shell undertones . Ample tannin and richness but with good fresh acidity , and good length, balanced alcohol, complex and vibrant . Very young still, though the ripeness and roundness of the tannin helps to give an enjoyable drinking experience. I would prefer to come back in 5-8 years and will last well a further 10 -15. For a ‘second’ wine this really well done. — 24 days ago

Beaulieu Vineyard

Private Reserve Georges de Latour Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 1970

1970 | Cabernet Sauvignon
Beaulieu Vineyard; Georges de Latour Private Reserve
Napa Valley; California, USA
(95-97; Drink 2025-40+)
3h decant

Nose has ripe cherry, cedar++, charcoal, grilled black cherry, faint olive and over-ripe blackberry.
Palate has dried cherry/blackberry, tobacco, strawberry, vanilla, dried mint, leather with medium+ tannins and plenty of acidity to hold for decades.

Epic, even besting the 1968 & 1995 for my palate!

Happy Father's Day 2024 to all.
