Château St. Jacques D'albas

Domaine Cruchandeau

Aux Saints Jacques Nuits-Saint-Georges 2023

Lyle Fass
9.6

@Delectable Wine This is the 2023 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru “Le Bas des Duresses.” Thanks!

I think this is now the top red at Cruchandeau. Mind blown. First that color is one of the darkest 23’s yet. Nose is grapey but so deep, so complex and so precise. Dark black cherries, gorgeous wet moss, unreal clarity and lift. Blackberry flower, blackberry juice and just unreal mineral lift. 9.7 nose. Absolutely stunning. Lush and energetic with just awe inspiring texture and insane tiny berry fruit intensity and such refinement and class. This is genius. The tannins are so refined and so velvety. It’s sweet but then finishes with a limestone crescendo. God’s jelly donut making an appearance on the nose. Just brilliant. My goodness this is a a hedonistic wine but also intellectual. Lush fruit, great energy and limestone for days. This needs air to develop but 9.6 off the bat.

Domaine Armand Rousseau

Clos St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Medium ruby garnet , garnet rim . This has a spiced , slightly smoky red cherry , raspberry and rose notes , elegant and perfumed. On the palate this is very refined , with sweet red fruits , raspberry , cherry , light touches of sous bois , velvety tannins and bright acidity . Good density and excellent balance , good saline , mineral edged length . This is really open and aromatic , velvety , and so well balanced ,a model of elegance and purity . This just got better and better with more time in the glass . Drinking well now , though still very fruit forward not showing a lot of development, and I would imagine it will continue well over the next 10 years . — 16 days ago
