Schist, clay, sandy soil. Slightly savory aroma (chicken seasoning?). Smooth mouthfeel and medium finish. Minimal fruit, orange pekoe/Keemun tea, fresh foliage, hint of smokiness. — 3 months ago
Another surprise in the longevity and quality of a well made Bourgogne well aged complexity and length that belies the basic label — 6 months ago
Light, tingly, perfectly paired with spaghetti and meatballs — 9 months ago
Medium deep garnet, ruby core with medium light garnet rim . This is quite meaty and deep on the nose , with earthy dark cherry , porcini , sweet blackberry and spiced sous bois . On the palate this is quite severe and serious , darker fruits , ripe blackberry , cherry and hint of blackcurrant, herbal hints. Quite gritty , slightly drying tannins , fresh acidity . Earthy , dusty dark cherry edged finish , ok medium length. Quite ambitious for a village and arguably not ready yet , tannins need a little more time to integrate. From now and over the next 5 years, if not longer . — 10 months ago

Still showing a lot of tannic and acidic structure, but enough fruit to keep it in check once it had a few hours of air, youthful still, and brawny. — 2 years ago

50-year old vines close to Fleurie and Chiroubles (more pink granite soil). Dark garnet color, black tea and strawberry. Fresh with light tannins, but not much structure or acidity. Great for immediate drinking. — 3 months ago
High stakes fall baseball and a Sancerre rouge. This is quite nice for the difficult ‘21 vintage. Color is super light. Nose is quite fragrant, with wafting sweet cherry juice, a mid-toned floral note, and flinty crushed stone. Enters gently on the palate, with cherry juice leading, but a bitterish note quickly appears and accelerates on the slightly short finish. Overall, a fine effort given conditions, and lovely with a simply roasted chicken. — 9 months ago

2019 vintage. Last tasted 10.30.24 (9.3). Popped for the staff as part of the usual Saturday Slurp. Previous visit was ridiculously delicious but undisciplined. All over the map and that was much of the charm...that rusticity and authenticity...but at Woodstock with 500K in attendance and the LSD-spiked punchbowl that ambushed The Who still found them nailing their set. Kinda similar to that. Yeah. So tonight's viz finds this bad boy relatively behaved with frontal palate richness and savory chocolate note along with a plushiness that was previously hinted at but unfulfilled. Gaminess gonzo for the most part as this seems to have settled into middle-age. Say it ain't so! Was crazy excellent in the punk rock era. Still excellent in the arena rock era. We'll see what happens in the crooner/standards era. 6.27.26. — 2 days ago
