Comtesse Lafond

Château de Montfaucon

Comtesse Madeleine de Montfaucon Côtes du Rhône Clairette 2014

From goblet-trained old-vine Clairette in Lirac (vineyard was “planted before 1870) on a hill overlooking the Rhône on the west side of the river, this lovely white wine shows honey and minerals, also some very nice acidity to balance, Clairette (which I adore) rarely shows the more viscous textural notes I get from southern Rhône Blancs that are mostly Roussanne and/or Marsanne (the latter mostly found in the northern Rhône), very good finish, lovely wine!!
I have actually walked this vineyard (6 years ago), the gnarled old vines are a pretty cool sight!!

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Réserve de la Comtesse Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

A 2nd Grand Cru Classé 1855 Chateau located in the southern end of Pauillac that produces powerful wines with amazing structure wines.

V.2018 was beautifully blended at 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35%Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8%Petit Verdot, that delivers high-powered notes of espresso, tobacco leaves, and dense-black fruits on the nose.
Full-bodied, rich and velvety with an exquisite silken mouthfeel that is so signature of Pauillac wines, very plushy and opulent, yet well-priced and worth every single sip to the very last drop.

Age worthy to a decade if patient. However; literally couldn’t wait for it and had it all in a single seat!

I have never had a bad bottle of this second wine. Even a 1992 that I had a few years back is probably one of the 15-20 very best wines I've had.

Thanks for sharing that Daniel. I was very surprised with this label and ended up buying 3 more bottles for cellaring. This Vintage is still climbing to its peak. Pretty good!

Preis-Leistung: 7/10

Comte Lafond Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Crisp, citrus mix of tangerine and lemon, creamy and smooth, paired very nicely with a simple Branzino prepared in olive oil, lemon, and salt. — a month ago

Clos Fussay Tête de Cuvée Reuilly Sauvignon Blanc

Pale golden color. Aromas and flavors of wet stones, tropical and citrus fruits, green apple, fresh herbs, honey and white flowers. Noticeable mineral flavors on the long and mouth watering finish. Very crisp with a noticeable acidic back bone. Slightly creamy texture. Pleasantly odd. Solid QPR. — 8 months ago

I don’t think I’ve ever had a white Lirac. Nice!

@Tom Casagrande, there are small quantities of Lirac blanc out there, this same producer makes an old vine Lirac blanc from 125-year-old head-pruned vines that is quite interesting as well.

@Tom Casagrande, oops, 100% old vine Clairette vines re: my above comment.
