The Chambolle of the portfolio. Red apple fruits, early season cherry, some barely there VA, and stunning lipstick like intensity. Loads of wet earth and red fruits. So elegant and slippery with unreal intensity but remains delicate throughout. Sweet fruit and finesse. So so elegant and long. Just raring to go. Nose has also that funky earth thing going on. Nose keeps opening up. Scary elegant. Ethereal and complete. Now with 8 hours of air the nose is singing. Elegant red cherries and cranberry along with stunning Burgundian funk. Palate is supple sweet fruit and great acids and freshness. Unreal aromas after a day. So floral and lifted. Just stunning. That funk is still there and really adds so much. The palate is so supple and silky. 9.6 to 9.7. — a month ago

So open. This wine wants to be drunk. It’s very high on the pleasurability scale. Sweet mint, herbals, cassis, berries on the nose. Amarena cherry. Great acidity and freshness. Long finish. Back label pic for info. Doesn’t really taste like cru Beaujolais to me, people who try to compare CA/OR gamay to Beaujolais are missing the mark. It’s very much its own thing. Pfalz nose, peach, apricot, huge minerals, oeach fuzz, wow what a nose, so so aromatic. wow huge fruit and acidity but also round like elite riesling. So so deep, cuts a swath across the palate. There’s honey but more will come with age. Inner mouth confectionary, killer, so deep and such a long finish. Wow. Amazing acidity and so ultra long. Juicy and delineated. Needs air and I will be back. Unreal grip and tannin and so explosive. Just stunning. American GG in the house. Now after 9 hours the nose is more complex with wet stones and more pronounced peach and apricot. So juicy and energetic and huge citrus. — a month ago

See previous note in June 2023 where I questioned the ripeness of the fruit. This has the trademark spice and pepper. Very little fruit, more savoury characters. From one of Australia’s leading cool climate wineries. As Jancis said, “a real sense of place “ - in this case the Macedon Ranges just north of Tullamarine Airport. Very different to SA Shiraz. Just medium bodied - a leathery note with balanced tannins. As in previous note a touch of astringency at the finish. — 6 months ago

Wow. The nose is neutral. OMG that palate is decadent and severely structured and the most velvety tannins that are squeezing out unreal tiny fruit intensity. This is the most epic Pinot in Oregon. This is a french Grand Cru wine being made in Oregon. Unreal structure, high acid, Inner mouth aromas. Judgement deferred. 9.6 based on past notes. I will follow this over the next few days. After 7 hours nose is more decadent but still not yielding what it can. This will be better tomorrow. Lovely spice but I know what this wine can be. The texture on the palate though is really coming through. Juicy and supple but still clipped finish. But long. 9.6 to 9.7. but I can’t wait for tomorrow. It’s so juicy and so layered. Impressive. Palate is so supple and dense on day 2. Unreal tannins, depth, sweetness and power. 9.7 to 9.8. — a month ago

Huge spice on the nose. Cinnamon and allspice. Very Volnay 1er cru. Palate is high acid and so juicy but with semi decadent sweet, mid season cherry, stunning freshness. But closed and coiled initially. Now the nose js getting that 4d aspect. High acid, grainy texture, tannins are refined, they come across as lacey, and there is a restrained intensity, So insane. But needs 3-4 hours to get there. I will be back. Finish is epic. After 7 hours this is so epic. Nose is allspice, deep cranberry. Palate is so red fruited and spicey. Very long and unreal tannins but it’s still holding back. — a month ago
