A fun New Years competition between Riva and Sizerrane. Both are winners. Though I’d say Riva had it by a nose. It was dense and deep. I loved the burnt caramel meat after two days in a decanter. Verdicchio is always great with fish. Had cod with a lemon/ wine/ butter sauce and this was good. Not the most memorable or expressive verdicchio I’ve had, but nice. Minerally, good acidity and subdued fruit. I find the ones from Metalica have less of that signature almond taste than those of Jesi. — 6 months ago
