First bottle of a batch that I ordered from my favourite wine merchant in France and that got delivered to my door in Poland.
An old friend that I have missed dearly. Apple, honey, waxy notes and some flowery scents too. This is multidimensional and very great. The palate shows a massive acid backbone, as expected, some stone fruits touches, a great width, a very long and fresh finish with a chalky mouthfeel almost. This is a great chenin. Oh have I missed this! — 4 years ago
It is only $5 so let it air out a bit before making up your mind. Tastes like my beloved Apothic Dark, but at a fraction of the cost. Trader Joe does everything right, especially this wine. Easy to accidentally drink the whole bottle, but I definitely wouldn’t know that. I’m getting hints of berry, chocolate, and a little bit of battery acid (like I said, it’s $5) — 7 years ago
This Collard-Picard has come a long way in a couple years. It arrived funky and unsettled. Today it has evolved into one of those rosé Champagnes that would stand up to a rich meal of duck or even our beloved "steak and claret night" meal. Dark, ripe blackberry fruit, a touch of spice, and a long finish make this rosé worth waiting on. — 9 years ago
Disgorged 2016. According to a friend who worked at Veuve nearby, Arnaud's wines sell out quick at the winery each year. Can certainly see why - this cuvee drinks so well. Fruit driven, with a solid core of apple, pears, and lemon curd. Oh so floral, nutty, yeasty. Reminded me of walnut butter, and MO of gruyere. I also got this pleasant vanillin tones in the finish.
Notes from Skurknik:
I wish I were named “Cuvée le Brut instead of my actual name, Gibbery Wobblestein. “Terry Theise” is a pseudonym. To the matter at hand—this superb non-vintage is 55% 2013 and the balance is 25% ’12, 10% ’11 and 10% ’06; deg 1/2016, it’s an exceedingly refined, high-toned classic Margaine, White-flowers, with sushi-knife cut and chisel, and overtones of jasmine. This wine rides the thin line between Chardonnay and Riesling, and when it’s on form it’s a thorough original, and one of my most beloved Champagnes. 92-8 CH/PN. — 9 years ago
Saula Gavi White Label 2023
Gavi DOCG, Piedmont, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
Crafted from 100% Cortese, this wine hails from the heart of the Gavi DOCG, produced at Tenuta La Marchesa—one of the largest and most historic estates in the region. It’s a crisp, refreshing expression of Piedmont’s beloved white grape.
Aromas & Flavors
Fresh and lively with green apple, lemon zest, and wildflowers on the nose. The palate continues with citrus, grapefruit, and white peach, underpinned by a subtle almond finish and a touch of wet stone minerality.
Mouthfeel
Light-bodied, clean, and dry, with bright acidity that keeps it vibrant and crisp. A wine that lingers just long enough to refresh without overwhelming.
Winemaking Notes
Produced in stainless steel to retain freshness, purity, and the varietal character of Cortese. Meant for early enjoyment rather than extended cellaring.
Food Pairing
Ideal with seafood, fresh salads, caprese, or as an aperitif. Its zippy acidity also makes it a great partner for fried dishes or lighter pastas.
Verdict
A classic Gavi—zesty, floral, and beautifully balanced. At this price point, it’s a must-have for casual sipping and everyday Italian charm. — a year ago

What a pretty lovely medium-light bodied Pinot. Really in its drinking window. Perfect mid week sharing with my beloved wife. Especially as we bought it together at the winery around 7 years ago. — 7 years ago
Tha fuckin god. The goat. Drank with my most beloved friends on our last weekend living in Brooklyn, after aging this bottle (from Joel) for four years. August 3, 2017. Goodbye 650 Franklin. — 9 years ago
Beautiful cherry flavour and an excellent compliment to a spicy dinner. — 9 years ago
Initial scent almost jammy but breathing deep I smelled tobacco drying like I was back in beloved Durham NC. Subtle cherry and dark fruit. — 9 years ago
The nose shows a bit of herbaceous notes, along with raspberries, blackberries and green bell pepper notes. I could have easily mistaken it for a cab franc. There is a tiny savoury note too, lurking in the back. The palate is medium bodied, with a delicious blackberries-raspberries stew note all along, a velvety mouthfeel that is slightly disrupted by gently drying tannins in the rear. The finish is long, fruity, with a nice savoury note, an rides on a tannic layer until the very end. The palate and finish remind me very much of my beloved Fronton 100% négrette wines from Domaine Le Roc. Good stuff 👍🏻 — 2 years ago
Over the weekend we had the pleasure of opening the 2020 Domaine De La Côte Bloom's Field Pinot Noir from Lompoc, California.
On the nose there is cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cinnamon, clove, baking spice and dry dusty earth.
On the palate there is cherry, strawberry, raspberry, spice, hibiscus, vanilla and forest floor.
This wine is medium bodied with a smooth fresh mouthfeel medium + mouthwatering acidity and medium fine tannins that lead to a long red fruit earthy finish. On this Wednesday heading over the hump towards the weekend let us all remember all the good things that we have and family and friends we dearly cherish. Have an exciting rest of your week in hopes the weekend will refresh our hearts. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 4 years ago

Special wines for a special occasion! Happy anniversary to my beloved partner in wine!
Initially a bit closed and was thrown off but after about 5mins in the glass the intensity picked up notably. Pears, apples, hint of honey followed by balanced acidity that complement the nose and palate. Kept picking up volume with every glass. — 7 years ago

Hard to pick a fave red from Grosjean but this is up there...pale red with thrilling high altitude aromatics and acidity, juicy ripe cherry, dried flowers and herbs, animal and spices. Not quite rustic but definitely alive and untamed. Makes me dearly want to visit this rugged part of Italy — 9 years ago

80% Bical, 20% Arinto. I might like their red better ( My beloved Baga) but this still stands out for its showing as a mid weight beauty, lemon curd & almond paste notes, with a strong mineral streak & some interesting fennel & herb notes at the edges. Hopefully not cursing it by saying it’s Burgundy adjacent — 2 months ago
