Solid Cru Beaujolais. Medium garnet color. Bright aromas of ripe red and black cherries, earth and violets. Expressive flavors of red and black cherry/raspberry/currant fruit, tobacco and a pleasant hint of baking spices. A bit of black pepper and the presence of stemmy carbonic maceration on the very long and tingly finish. Quite juicy and crisp. @Henk schouten Totally fair to disagree, taste is personal. But just to say: I’m not critiquing the correctness. I’m critiquing the effect. There’s a kind of technical polish that can drain the soul out of a wine. Beaumard’s been doing that for years. This bottle’s just another example.
If you rate a 35yo wine with 9.2 how can that be boring
@Henk schouten At a certain point you just realize: the internet is where good faith goes to die. I said the wine was boring. I stand by that. Not flawed. Not bad. Just soulless in a way that technical wines often are. If that offends you, maybe ask why it matters so much.
