Coudoulet de Beaucastel Cotes-du-Rhone White Rhone Blend 2014

This wine offers equal parts richness and steeliness with oxidative qualities next to freshness and verve. It benefits from some time in the glass, coming up to a slightly chilled temp (versus fully chilled).

It has a gorgeous golden hue with medium (+) aromas and flavors of yellow apple, white peach, nectarine, honeydew, chamomile, orange blossom, toasted hazelnut, beeswax, delicate struck match (that faded as the wine opened up), ground white pepper, and wet slate notes.

On the palate, it’s dry with medium alcohol, clocking in at 13% ABV, and a vibrant acidity, lending balance and lift.

Its varieties include 30% Bourboulenc, 30% Marsanne, 30% Viognier, and 10% Clairette.
This wine vinified and matured (for 8 mos) in a combination of oak and stainless steel tanks.

From what we understand the 2014 vintage in the Southern Rhône was tricky, and less than ideal... but here’s to tasting these wines with a little bottle age to discover how meticulous practices in the vineyard and winery can produce a wine of beauty, complexity, and resilience, despite facing nature’s adversity!

Cru de Coudoulet Cotes-du-Rhone Red Rhone Blend 2015

Delectable: This is made by Famille Perrin, not Pierre Perrin - not offered in your choices. Dense dark Ruby in colour - impenetrable. Fairly closed on the nose - I didn’t decant and probably should have. The palate reflects the ripe warm 2015 vintage. One can taste the fruity Grenache, the tarriness of the Mourvèdre and the spiciness of the Syrah - overall a gamey note - only a small % of Cinsault. Had the last bottle 14 weeks later on 5th February 2022 with similar notes. — 3 years ago

Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône White Rhone Blend 2015

Stinks when my usual guy isn’t working at the local wine store. This didn’t cost much though. Pretty average wine all around. Light gold color. Nose is citrus with some honey. Lemon, honey, and some tartness on the palate. Decent finish. — 6 years ago

Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend

2016 vintage. Red plum, hoisin, shiitake on soft wood, cinnamon and cedar, coffee rye, palm bark, lilac. Expansive sour cherry, cranberry, pipe tobacco, leather, apple skin, allspice, nutmeg and clove. Really a perfect Côtes du Rhône from a great vintage, shining, deific at eight years.

Viognier de Fontgaline 2019

Pleasantly surprised. This wine is floral with touches of stone fruit and honey and persistent acidity. Cheers. — 2 years ago

Domaine Grand Veneur Les Champauvins Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2017

Stylish with plenty of Southern Rhône character, the CDR Les Champauvins from Dom. Grand Veneur is drawn from a plot just north of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and neighbouring Beaucastel’s Coudoulet lieu-dit. It features quite generous aromas of plum, hoisin, violet, garigue and vanilla leading to a very spicy and full bodied palate that hides its high ABV (15%) well. This is a good imitation of its AOC superiors and drinks well at four years of age. — 3 years ago

Pays d'Oc Syrah 2017

Vintage 2017 / Néw cuvee from Bordeaux blend #cabernetsauvignon #merlot #petitverdot with IGP #paysdoc while domaine Coudoulet is in Minervois. Six months barrel aging is reflected in a wine with strong cassis smell and spicyness. Character in taste. I served the wine straight from the fridge, the fruit is extra accentuated. Very good effort. — 6 years ago

How interesting! "New" and "Bordeaux" aren't often mentioned in the same sentence unless oak is involved!
