The 2016 Château Marquis d’Alesme hasn’t budged a bit since I last tasted it around four years ago. It remains a stoic, savoury Margaux with a herbaceous character and underlying inky, tangy fruit. It’s still quite shy, scarcely changing on the second night, and probably much too young still for enjoying.
Back goes the case with a big ‘do not touch’ stamp – probably for another four years.

Classic nose with black currant and cassis, some damson plum and notes of cedar wood & mint. Fresh, pure and very seductive & enticing.
Medium bodied in the palate, very elegant and with great balance. The tannins are velvety fine but still give a nice frame to the dark fruit. Juicy & fresh and with good length.
This is in a very nice place right now and is drinking beautifully.
Such a classic Margaux. — 13 days ago
The 2nd wine in the Downs Club First Growth Lunch last Saturday. A beautiful perfume. I’ve always thought that Margaux is very feminine whereas Latour is very masculine. Medium weight, very savoury, a delight to drink - fluid resolved tannins. No sign of coming from the hot drought year of 2003. The 1982 Margaux is still one of the best reds I’ve ever had. — 23 days ago
Blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, second wine of Château Paveil de Luze, aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 25% new, deep Ruby with aromas of red berry fruits and cedar pepper spice. On the palate flavors of black fruits, currants and spicy notes. Lively acidity, fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, cacao and spicy oak. Drinking well now! — a month ago
+2 hour decant(decent chunky/fine sediment). An amazing dark garnet color. On the nose: You must breathe in this captivating nose of dark red fruit, herbaceous, smoke, sweet florals, worn leather, licorice. Taste: layered, balanced, silky wine with brambly raspberry/cherry, peppery tobacco, gravel, smoked leather, tar, and a long drying finish. YUM! No need to hurry plenty of time to go. — 15 days ago
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with mild complexity.

This 8 year old is drinking nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Smooth and entertaining.

This Second Growth Margaux is delicious. Nicely balanced and elegant. Fruit forward and complex. Rich, but not extracted.
This 7 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based blend is starting to drink beautifully right now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 20 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.
Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. Loved the complexity on the nose.
