Sur Le Sentier Du Clou Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay 2011

Nice premier cru from St Aubin with just over 10 years age. Was honestly hoping for a bit more overall but this was an excellent pairing with some blackened sea bass. Not okay at all, definite green minerality characteristic that is hard for me to describe. Medium minus acid and the finish isn’t quite all encompassing. But still a nice wine. — 3 years ago

Sur Le Sentier Du Clou Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

2014 vintage. Old-school dynamite. Chalk dust for days and mouth-puckering dryness. No evidence of global warming in this particular go about. Medium body. Has at least another 7-8 years in this personality but possibly double that. Intriguing. 8.23.24. — 3 months ago

G.A.E.C. Bonneau & Fils

Réserve des Célestins Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 1995

Tasted blind. This is an elegant expression from Henri Bonneau, whom I luckily once met when he was still alive. The combination of a fungus contaminated wine cellar, old barrels looking like they are about to collapse and wines of extraordinary quality remain a mystery to me to this date. The 1995 Réserve des Célestins shines with wafts of dried Provence herbs such as garrigue, dried strawberry, cranberry, red plum along with an earthy undertone and a pinch of iodine. It doesn't reach the same heights as 1989, 1990 or 1998, but is still full-bodied, extremely smooth on the palate and has well integrated alcohol. The long finish confirms a wine of outstanding quality, which can easily hold for another 10 years. Drink now until 2032. — 2 years ago
