Was an excellent Ripasso at a rather reasonable price! Must look for this one again. — 8 years ago

My favorite Brunello and it’s not close. The utmost Burgundian expression of Sangiovese and 2018 Bosco is gorgeous tonight, finessed and seductive, fully open and giving wafting a captivating floral, spice and wild red berry perfume, and a palate that captures a seamless balance of richness and tension with no warmth, just definition. Love these wines. — a year ago

Quite deep garnet , just a hint of ruby and a wide garnet , terracotta rim. Touches of chestnut , dark fruits , earthy liquorice , dry spice and black tea . On the palate this is very classically styled , with dark liquorice tinged blackberry, raspberry , spiced black tea and menthol tinged good long length finish . Balanced acaidity and quite high , grippy tannins. With time this is beginning to show quite well , but will not doubt improve over the next 5 perhaps 10 years and last well a further 10 . Really quite classic and imposing in style , but detailed and complex. — 9 months ago

A failed blind, but it was WOTN for me and most on the table! Roses and tar notes along with substantial acid and grip (although elegant) found me firmly in Piedmont. Should have known - it’s not the first time I’ve mistaken a Sangiovese for a Nebbiolo (and notably more so than the other way around). Blind aside, the wine itself definitely had everyone on the table buzzing with excitement when first poured. So aromatic and complex, with notes of dark red cherries, roses, tar, smoky incense, and liquorice. Robust tannins on the palate, yet there’s a real airiness to the wine. Beautiful energy with the underlying mineral streak. Just pure drinking pleasure!
NB: From what I understand, the “Cielo” now replaces the Rosso, which will no longer be made at the winery. The “Cielo” is a blend of different plots. — 2 years ago

I had a couple of these bottles pre-Covid - fall 2019? It was my introduction to Stella di Campalto. They were fantastic young and you could see where they were headed. I bought six of the 750s and a couple of 1.5L. This is the first one I’ve opened. This Rosso would hold its own against almost any Brunello from the 2015 vintage, which makes sense, since they just take a barrel of the Brunello and declassify it and release it as a Rosso one year early. Delicious cherry, light on its feet, and very pretty florals on the nose. Give it time it open or a quick decant, which I did not this time. Great with steak, but also contemplative on its own. — 11 hours ago
