although it threw a alot of sediment the wine is very enjoyable. Somewhat on the subdued side and not over the top while showing a fair amount of black and blue berry flavors. Very little tannin. — 3 years ago
2019 seems to be a controversial vintage chez Rouget. The Vosne-Romanee is certainly ripe, though not jammy or excessively opulent. The heat does come to the fore as the wine unfolds in the glass. It’s undeniably delicious, though it may not prove long-lived. — 4 years ago
Lovely medium bodied white with a fair number of legs. Subtle notes of floral on the nose. Pears & apricots on the fore palate followed by soft but distinct minerals, and finished with whispers of citrusy lemon - lime. Enjoyed it with Tim at Tarpon Lodge on Pine Island (seafood & filet) — 5 years ago
Aromas of dark black fruits - blackberry, plum, blueberry. Bold and big, with soft integrated tannins that draw you into the inner sanctum of the grape varietal. A tinge of age at the ends, but not in the fore front. Nice lovely finish lasting over 30 seconds before it breaks down. Definitely at its peak of performance. Paired well with the bolognese. Even better with the veal chop with figs, pluots, and watermelon radish. As Elizabeth says, this is a gorgeous wine. “It’s a grown up, but not old”. Or as I like to say, like a 40 year old classy lady wearing an evening gown and pearls - just stunning! — 6 years ago
The nose features fresh plum, rose pedals, vanilla, fennel seeds, and cranberry. The palate starts with tart red fruit and licorice. Salinity, oak and minerals come to fore mid-palate. The tart fruit returns in the finish with high tannins and acid. This is a modern style Barolo with not as much pucker factor, but still requires decanting. — 6 years ago
At the Come Taste the Stars Dinner hosted by Tyson Stelzer. The 6 th and final Champagne and what better way to finish than with the power of a Vintage Krug. 39% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot Noir and 24% Pinot Meunière ; aged more than 11 years on Lees. This is one of the rare vintages of Krug to have more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir. Malic acid to the fore with crunchy green Apple notes. Tastes amazingly young and fresh - aiming for a long living style. Noticeable acidity finishing very dry. Tyson says at 15 years of age that it needs another 15 to reach its full potential. The French Somm at Montrachet told me this was his favourite of the 6 stellar champagnes. Powerful but retains its elegance incredibly. — 7 years ago
Cherry pie on the nose. Hints of cherry, berries and plums on the fore palate. Smooth, moderate finish of leather. Not as spicy as expected for a Shiraz. (Sirloin tip steak, lobster tails, baked potato, saluted kale w baby Bella mushrooms - last meal with Kendra - Tim) — 6 months ago
Pale cram yellow color. Abundant legs. Mild pears on the nose. Crisp Apples and pears on the fore palate. Lovely acidity with a smooth, oak finish. Consistent throughout the bottle. (Complemented the fatty Risotto with chicken breast and white cheese sauce very nicely!) — 3 years ago
This took seven hours to really open up and the wait was well worth it
Clear dark ruby colour with sleight brickish edge about 1/2 inch sludge left in bottle.
Palate was clean with rich berries to the fore
Nice fruit acidity balance with long aftertaste
Ethereal in sense that time in the decanter completely transformed the experience
35 year old wines require patience and careful treatment

Ripe red fruits with cherry to the fore. Also spice and a hint of ginger - smoky. A light to medium bodied palate finishing with ultra fine grained tannins. To be honest not as impressive as I was expecting. This wine seems to be between youthful exuberance but not yet gaining complexity. I did have one a few years ago brought by a friend which was delicious. Try the next in a year or so. — 6 years ago
Pale to mid Ruby in colour. Bright red fruits with a sooty stalky earthy note. Barb the gardener thought pansy perfume amongst the forest floor. Earthy savouriness on the medium weight palate with red fruits - red cherry to the fore. Still fresh at 10 years. We both loved it. Even though the Lavaux site is one of the last picked in Gevrey Chambertin ensuring longer hang time and good depth, Jasper Morris MW described it as “fine boned”. A very good Premier Cru from a good vintage. — 6 years ago

Deep Ruby in colour. My last bottle of 6 originally bought. The earlier SO2 from previous bottles have finally diminished. Some stalky raspberry notes with a nuances of coffee. On the medium bodied palate red and black fruits with raspberry to the fore. Easy power. The hallmark of Edelstone is and has always been its fluid silky tannins - the product of vines over 100 years old planted in 1912. Has become expensive in recent years but compared to Hill of Grace good QPR. — 6 years ago

Nose is old school, with cooling clay earthiness in the fore, and some gorgeously pure and deep cassis and dark cherry fruit peeking out from underneath. In the mouth it’s still a bit tightly wound (I popped and quickly double decanted, so it hasn’t gotten much air yet). The flavors are deep, still a hefty tannic load. But not so backward I can’t enjoy it now. Clearly will benefit from several more years in a cool cellar. — a year ago
An excellent aged Cabernet to go with a Scotch Fillet at the local pub in Sorrento on Boxing Day night. Domaine A is living proof that Tasmania does get enough sunshine to ripen Cabernet Sauvignon. All the classic Cabernet descriptors - Cassis Tomato bush, and Tobacco leaf to the fore here. Medium weight with resolving tannins. — 3 years ago
A really pretty dark garnet color in the glass, almost impenetrable. The nose is very interesting and lovely, especially as time passes. Black and red cherries with some soft vanilla. There’s a bit of coffee and cigar smoke. On day two, chocolate and floral notes come to the fore. Earthy and fruity in equal measure.
This starts off as a very well balanced, quite nice wine but becomes so much more if you can let it grow into itself a little bit. Full bodied but not clunky. Smooth with vibrant energy. Soft tannins and nicely dry. On the palate you’ll find tobacco and chocolate with dark fruits. A nice streak of spice brings us on home to the long finish. This is no novelty, it’s just good wine. — 3 years ago
A pale gold hue leads to some nice effervescence and tons of small bubbles initially. A fine mousse and highly aromatic on the nose with an abundance of wet stone minerality and fresh pears. The fruit is ripe and expressive with citrus aromas being dominant with the more autolytic notes serving as backup. After some time and air, that nice yeast and floral aspects come to the fore in the form of delicate little white flowers.
100% Chardonnay with 7 g/l that only adds a little softness to the acidity of the champagne. With 30% of the blend coming from reserve wines there is a distinct elegance and refinement happening here. The fruit comes from Grand and Premier Crus from Avize and Cramant.
This is most certainly a pop and pour champagne, it’s ready to go. A silky mouthfeel with crisp acidity which leads to crisp fruit on the palate. Baked apple pie, brioche buns, and mandarin oranges shine. Decidedly lush and fun. Fruity, elegant, and versatile. — 5 years ago
Medium plus crimson in colour. Strong Coonawarra mint on the nose and black currant. After a time eucalyptus/menthol notes. Classic Coonawarra Cabernet flavours with cassis to the fore demonstrating why it has been a great district for Cabernet for over 60 years. More opulent than savoury but still only medium bodied. Drink the last one in the next year or two. — 6 years ago

Domaine de Panisse CdP Noble Revelation
First off you have to know that I love! Love CdP. This is the 2012 vintage and it is hitting all the right notes...
The hue is red with a dollop of brown if you will. After a two hour aeration the smell is quite pleasant: ripe dark plum is predominant with a slight hint of dried Mediterranean spices. Balanced from beginning to mid-pallet, velvety! On the fore-pallet it feels bold and tannic with a long and savory finish.
There is a very casual non pretentious quality about this CdP which screams “drink me” after each and very sip... Enjoyed with a roasted Frenched rack of lamb and red wine reduction sauce, asparagus, and cherry tomatoes. Selection by the lovely Maria Chantal. — 6 years ago

First, let me say that the @plcb has NO idea what they’re doing re clearance sales. Maybe, no definitely, the greatest $21.99 bottle of wine I’ve ever come across. I only wish now, that there were more than six to buy.
Cedar, Cocoa, Dark Cherries, Forest Floor, on the nose, apparent upon opening and pouring a bit in a glass, from 2 ft. away. As it opened, and w Sunday gravy( thanks Marcella), those repeat plus purrr-fect cheek and lower lip acidity & tannins. Med. body, decently long finish( tough to distinguish, fore you’re into the next sip already)Mahogany colored, gorgeous.
I’m hoping for more insane clearance sales! I know this 1st bottle won’t last into tomorrow to see how it does overnight. The next one will have to do.
